Loretta Sanchez: Obama has to call me on the phone to get my endorsement
Another screaming ridiculous nonsensical PUMA. What a shame for us Hispanics. She says she is having a great time at the Convention and demands Obama phones her. Abrams called it "extortion" and Sanchez went on a nonsensical tirade. "Hillary busted her behind for Barack, so his people should write checks to bring down her debt". Abrams told her: The Dem family you are talking about sounds like the Sopranos. What a jerk is COngresswoman Sanchez.

Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 10:22 AM by LostinVA
Whether or not what she's doing is nice or not, Sanchez is far, far from a PUMA. She's a decent politicanm who wrestled the seat from a Freeper. People on here need to quit using "Puma" to eman anyone that is not a fan of Senator Obama.

I doubt very much she would vote for McCain... or even McKinney. SHE'S A DEM. Anyone who votes for McCain is not a Dem.

Maybe you and other posters shoudl quit letting the MSM write YOUR history.

32. It doesn't have anything to do with being a fan of Obama
You don't have to be a fan of Obama to vote for him and show some party unity.

The PUMA moniker comes in when you have someone like Congresswoman Sanchez saying that they won't vote for the party's nominee unless he personally pays her some special attention.

I don't remember the supporters of other candidates in 2004 being like this. The Dean folks went around with "arranged marriage" buttons, but they didn't insist on phone calls and that Kerry's people needed to pay down Dean's primary debts or whatever before they'd cast a vote for Dean.

One of the reasons I didn't head in Hillary's direction during the primaries was because of her supporters, the one's who said that the other candidates might as well give up because Hillary was the inevitable nominee. No frontrunner had ever been so far ahead and lost. You will be assimilated, resistance is futile.

So it didn't work out.

I've never seen the supporters of any candidate so adamant that they, and their candidate, deserved as much as these folks seem to think they are entitled to just for the extreme favor of supporting the nominee of the party they belong to.

It's not about being a fan of Obama. It's about being a Democrat.

If the PUMA fits, wear it.

How dare she demand anything from Obama?!

She is trash and these delegates running their mouths to the media about Obama will not be forgotten. We are making a list and checking it twice. And you will see a concerted effort to put up progressive candidates against them in the future primaries. These people need to be purged from our party ranks.

You just wait. There is a major backlash coming against these ass-clowns. And it's going to be spectacular.

But we have a Democratic ticket now - and the person she supported isn't on it.

I'm betting many in her district supported Barack Obama and would like to see her work for a unified party. NOT throw a tantrum on national television b/c the person she worked to defeat in the primaries hasn't given her a personal phone call.

She don't need my money

Also Sanchez seems to be ignoring the simple math
IF the "18 million" people who voted for Hillary sent in $1.00 that debt would be retired
Perhaps Hillary may have gotten almost 18 million votes
but she doesn't have "18 million" supporters

using her maiden name of Sanchez. She beat Dornan by a few hundred votes and then it was found that over 4700 voter registrations in Orange County were questionable.

Shady lady if you ask me, but I guess if she's got a (D) next to her name, she's good enough for us!

22. Barack Obama should put in a phone call to all 18 million of Hillary's voters
Hopefully by the time November gets around, he will have gotten through at least 1/4 of these phone calls if he takes a lot of No Doz, Red Bull, and only takes a 20 minute nap a day.

Sanchez has a high opinion of herself and her influence. She's a Democrat. You'd think that her endorsement of the Democratic nominee is expected and not something someone has to be pressured to do. He's not asking for a kidney, he's asking for her support so her own constituents can get a leg up after 8 years of Bush. You would think she would be thinking about her folks back in Cali. Oh well.

True, Loretta's a latecomer to the Obama party, but she'll face reality and come around.

59. I was thinking the same about Obama!
Obama's hasn't won the nomination yet, and he's not President either.

:boring: The first convention night was badly staged and way too boring. Pelosi should have spent more time speaking out against Bush's vetoes and explaining what Democrats have passed on energy conservation. Jimmy Carter should have been a star speaker, and should have been given time to speak out about the role our party and its members have in ending our country's addition to fossil fuels.

I think last night was way too much of a love fest, with too little candor and detail. Loretta Sanchez's performance wasn't staged, and I respect everything she had to say! :woohoo:

39. Wonder if Nancy will speak to her about this.
SHe's speaker of the house, and loretta is a member of that body (and in her party), Loretta can say what she likes according to her interests, but she isn't owed a right to certain committee assignments in the upcoming congress if she acts in ways that Nancy and other dems find anthemaa to THEIR interests. Call it bullying if you like, but if you bite the hand that feeds you, it may stop feeding you.

Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 12:33 PM by Roberto1223
she will not be able to beat: Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Kathleen Sebelius, Evan Bayh, Claire McCaskill, Jack Reed, Bill Ritter, Jim Webb, Brian Schweitzer, Bill Richardson; Hillary's best chance was now and to get the leg up on 2016 she needed to be VP...so it is history for Senator CLinton unless Obama loses this year.

69. Roberto, I found it interesting that you internalized Sanchez's comment.
"What a shame for us Hispanics."

I do the same as a black woman. I cringe when I hear like things from others but when I hear other African Americans spew the shit, it is that much more bothersome. (I only hear black folk with those opinions on the news or C-Span. The only "negative" I hear from people I associate with is that they are afraid for Obama's safety, and are weary of him becoming POS).

I know you cannot speak for your whole community, but do you sense the same hostility for Obama the MSM occasionally reports? There did seem to be a divide, possibly, before the CA primary, but it feels things have improved. Your view?

74. Thank you for your comment. I do sense that the MSM is also trying to divide the Hispanic community
since we have many important Hispanics in leadership positions that have endorsed Obama and the MSM (Univision and Telemundo) barely report it; however, when a moron like Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee endorses McCain because "McCain will help illegal aliens" then you'll see the entire MSM make a big deal out of it. Thank God the Democratic Party has been a Party of inclusion for the Hispanic community and I have to thank Bill and Hillary for their dedication during the Clinton Presidency, so the MSM will have negligible effect in our community but it is disappointing that the MSM runs with the negativism of Loretta Sanchez and downplays the optimism of her sister, also a Congresswoman, Linda Sanchez.

78. Actually, it would probably be good if the MSM played up the Daddy Yankee endorsement.
I heard about that, and him, yesterday and was relieved most of his fans were teenagers and too young to vote. The biggest gripes I hear from the right are about a woman's right to choose and illegal immigration. If the MSM runs with, "mccain will help illegal aliens," maybe some of his supporters will stage a write-in block for lou dobbs. :D

And I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She was WAY out of line with what she had, and needs to be reminded that this week is about showing a united front to the rest of the country, not moping around and whining that Obama needs to call her.

It was disgraceful (and I LIKE Sanchez).

I can't wait until it's payback time for these loose cannons. Next year, when her bills go to file 13, when they never come out of committee, when her staffers calls to executive agencies go unreturned, we'll see who is calling to apologize and beg for understanding.

Here's a clue: It won't be the president.

Remember, she was a Republican before she decided to run as a Democrat. Has not done much of anything so this is one way to get attention.

100. I do NOT like her attitude.
She may think that because she's in power right now, that she's there to stay. If she doesn't know what time it is, she better get a watch: people are beginning to pay attention to their politicians and are more than willing to hold their feet to the fire if they go against the wishes of their constituents. I hate that people like Rep. Sanchez are making women look petty and emotional. If she believes in making phone calls, she needs to call me and thank me for sending Hillary a check; I'll send another one if she flies out to kiss my ass. :eyes:

Sounds clueless and petty. Like many PUMAs.

She needs to get her head out of her ass and realize this isn't even about her, Hillary, or even Obama in the short and long run. It's about the future of this damn country and the entire fucking world.

And I'm sorry, but is it crass of me to say that I don't give a shit about Hillary's campaign debt? I loved her speech and have a new found respect for her, but she ran a screwed up campaign and the priority now is not solving that problem, but making sure Obama has the money to give Americans back their government again.
