Mark Penn is writing Bill's speech?
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 11:46 AM by Kristi1696
(Just reported on MSNBC)

Ugh.

I have complete faith that Hillary is going to hit it out of the park with her speech tonight.

But I'm a little worried about Bill, particularly now that I know Mark Penn is writing his speech. Why hasn't Bill scraped that guy off yet? This guy torpedoes his wife's bid for the Presidency and Bill is still turning to him for advice. I don't get it.

I really hope that Obama's campaign gets a look at the speech because I don't trust Penn at all.

ETA: This appears to be the source of the speculation (and let's hope that it's just that)

3. I read that on The Atlantic website yesterday
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 11:18 AM by ErinBerin84
dear god, please let it be a rumor.

edit: The Atlantic actually reported that Mark Penn was "consulting" Bill on the speech, not writing it exactly. But seriously, can we just admit that Mark Penn is in the McCain camp now (actually, as he's always been) and keep him out of the Democratic party forver?

16. Thanks. I found that Ambinder article. He doesn't name who the "sources"...
That gave him this information are, so hopefully this is just speculation.

Funny how it's morphed into "Penn is writing the speech" from "Penn is consulting on the speech", without any additional reports to back this up.

yeah, that's what makes me hope this is just a rumor.
Which is very possible, since Mark Penn was spotlighted as being a douchebag in the Clinton memos that were released. I could see this just being a rumor this week to try and stir shit up.

5. Heard that, as well. Discomfiting, to say the least.
I strongly suspect Mark Penn is the reason Hillary Clinton's campaign debt remains unpaid.

7. Bill Clinton is the type of person who would want to write his own speech.
I call BS by the MSM for the express purpose of dividing us even more.

10. I hope that's true. And I like to make it clear...
This was not an attack on the Clintons in any way. This is about Penn, with a degree of bewilderment of why Bill still confides in him.

He took a shot at being a strategist and you can ask Hillary Clinton how that went for him. I guess speech writer is not on the resume

22. Seems that Penn's official title is now "confidant".
Apparently Bill's list of people he trusts has shortened significantly.

I just don't understand why Bill thinks Penn deserves to be on it. He must be keeping some pretty serious secrets for Bill, that's all I can think of.

But, having heard Penn speak for himself, I'd hardly consider him a wordsmith.

15. I thought they would ahve cast that guy overboard by now
Especially if the exhaustive reports of his role in creating hillary's campaign demise are true. Hopefully it's not a loyalty over competence issue.

25. I doubt it's being written by one person.
Maybe Mark Penn is a contributor, but I'm sure Bill Clinton has some things he wants to say which he'll write himself.

27. Can any Clinton fans out there explain this to me?
WHY after that man ran Hillary's campaign into the ground and exposed himself for the giant waste of time, money and space that he is... WHY would they continue to be connected to him and use his services?!?

If the WHOLE FUCKING WORLD thinks he did a terrible job, why won't they cut those ties?! Seems to me like it's little more than POOR JUDGEMENT. Blind loyalty is trumping skill, intellect, strategy, and logic.

Help me out Clintonites! Explain it to me!
