Thousands of us have read DU for a long time. If any of you are like me from three weeks ago, you've contributed money and you've posted and read blogs on the Internet, but not much more. I'd like to post a "DU Challenge", if you will -- 5 Steps to Win! I truly believe that if everyone who reads this post commits, or re-commits, to doing each one of these five steps, that we will see far more than a polling bounce. Together, we can exponentially help this campaign take flight.
STEP ONE: Participate in an outreach event.Use the
Obama Event Search Tool to find and sign up for one (just one!) canvassing, phone banking or voter registration event in your area in the coming week.
STEP TWO: Make a physical donation to your local Obama HQ.Find your
Local Headquarters using this online tool and visit your local Obama Headquarters to donate something besides time or money. (If you have signed up for an event hosted at the HQ, you can combine this with step one.) I couldn't believe how many ordinary household and office items I had that my local HQ needs. Call your local HQ to find out what they need. Some suggestions mine offered - (all items should be in working condition) - Gently used toasters, microwave ovens, dish soap, computer equipment, binders, binder clips, folders. My office had wish lists taped everywhere throughout the office.
STEP THREE: Really explore my.barackobama.com and create a profile. There are so many things you can do here. You can connect with your friends online. You can write and read blogs. You can join just about any group imaginable. Local groups, Women for Obama, Veterans for Obama, yes even Lefties for Obama! (He's a lefty too, you know.) You can even raise funds through your page, which brings me to my next step...
STEP FOUR: Create a Fund Raising Page for ObamaYou can create a fundraising page for Obama which instantly increases your ability to raise money for the campaign. Creating a page is incredibly simple, and you can forward it on to your left-leaning friends and family. Post it in your signature here. If you want to donate money yourself, you can volunteer to match other people's donations. In fact, I'm doing that myself right now with a goal of raising $2,000 for Obama by the end of the convention! (Link pimpage below, if you want to donate I will match your donation up to $100 until I hit my fundraising goal!)
STEP FIVE: Wear It ProudBuy Obama wear and magnets. One key factor for undecideds and "low information" voters is what their peers present around them. A low information voter who sees people driving (nicely!) on the road with Obama stickers and magents, or their neighbors walking about with Obama t-shirts and hats will realize that it's "okay" to vote for this candidate. Sadly, a lot of people just "follow the crowd" when it comes to voting -- but they're not going to know there's a crowd without us displaying our support visibly somewhere!
So that's it... Just some ideas I was inspired to type up after last night's stirring speeches and after I realized that we simply must get this man into office.
As for the link pimpage, I am matching donations through until the end of the convention, or until I reach my goal. Please visit my page below if you were considering making a donation this month, and I will match it!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope that at least a few people found it useful, and that it results in more positive outreach for the campaign to help counter all the negativity that is generated around election season!
