McCain: pro-choice or pro-life? Can the pro-life faction trust him?
I don't think so, not in the least. This pro-choice woman can't; yet he leaves the possibilty of all kinds of "exceptions" to his pro-lifedness.

What do you think? Can the pro-life faction trust him? They are remarkable at GOTV and fundraising--but is he their guy?

From "Issues 2000" http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/John_McCain_Abortion.htm

McCain Poised to Flip On GOP Abortion Platform; May 9, 2008 (ABC News): http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=4824779

TPMuckraker, 8/22/08: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=4824779

He's gotta convince his base and they tend pro-life.

So, RNC, which is it this year: "unborn babies" or women who vote? It's a simple question--and I hope it will get loads of RNC convention attention.

1. Framing sucks: McCain wants to deny women reproductive health care rights.
He, along with almost the entire republican party leadership, seek to deny women control over their own bodies, which through constant repetition they have convinced us to refer to as their being "pro-life".

4. Ah, but the "Issues 2000" sites indicates that he gives women all kinds of excuses to
have an abortion.

So it's simple: can the pro-life faction; who give money and volunteer hours and GOTV to the RNC in droves, do it for this guy?

I don't think so.

3. Agree - we need to target the fundie base.
How on earth can they trust this man? He is not the Christian man who will bring their agenda to fruition. Divide them.

5. Some of the fetus-lovers won't trust him a bit.
But I would say a fair number of them are so in love with the political clout they've had since the 80's that they'll vote for McCain. I mean what choice do they have? They certainly won't vote for Obama/Biden. The more clear-headed among them may realize they've been used all this time and stay home. How many remains to be seen.

6. Pro-lifers are not pro-life. They are anti-choice!
Don't give them the benefit of their phony framing.

Most of those scumbags have no regard for any life other than their own.

8. Please enlighten me
I was commenting on the framing. The term "pro-life".

What did I miss?

9. Driving a wedge in the Republican SOP. McCain's been all over both sides--neither side can
trust him.

10. OK, I get that..
I don't get giving them the framing they desire. They are not pro-life.
