BIDEN!! - Russia's Medvedev now talking "Cold War"
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 04:09 PM by lamprey
Dimitri Medvedev raises spectre of new Cold War

Russia's president said today he was ready for the start of a new Cold War, as he set tensions with the West soaring by recognizing the independence of two breakaway republics inside Georgia.

“We are not afraid of anything, including the prospect of a Cold War,” said Dimitri Medvedev, after ordering his foreign ministry to start work on establishing diplomatic ties with the secessionist regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The move brought instant condemnation from America, Britain, France, Germany and other Western countries.

President Bush appealed to the Kremlin to “reconsider this irresponsible decision."

Biden will be, perhaps, the most sort after guest to discuss Georgia, and "the prospect of a Cold War". Thank heavens he is our VP nomination.

Edit: Headline dumbed down

4. I realize that. All I meant is that Barack couldn't have known about
this several days ago when he chose Joe. I know there was disruption in Ga. but I don't think anyone really KNEW Medvedev was going to be quite this agressive!

5. If it dominates the news cycle, the Democrats could have been crushed.
Not this time.

6. At the worldmeets.us site, a lot of the foreign press is praising Obama's VP pick.
Biden seriously is popular with the foreign governments-- they actually take him seriously. Ironically, moreso than the Bush administration, it appears.

7. Ironically Governments take Biden more seriously than Bush?
There's no irony there. Condi's face, heading to Georgia was a picture. You could understood the disaster unfolding under her watch. Worst SoS in living memory.

8. True, there was a time when 1 Senator wasn't supposed to be taken more seriously than the whole
entire administration at the White House. It's just sad for us. Wrong choice of words, I'm sorry.
