38. Number two is a SERIOUS PLACE in a campaign - he protects the nominee's back.
Biden is going to be great at that. Few Dems are good at doing that for each other, but this time Joe will not fail to perform this crucial duty.

8. The day I knew Barack Obama would one day be president was 10/2/02
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 11:57 PM by IWantAnyDem
It was the first time I ever heard him speak. Downtown Chicago. Federal Plaza.

32. Last night, my husband said
that when he heard Obama speak at the 2004 convention, he said to himself, "That guy's going to be President someday." I know a lot of other people thought the same thing. But who knew it would it would only take four years?

I am so proud to be an American today!

Lucky you...It took me a long time to find
that speech and I had already decided on him but it would have been sooner. But, that's okay..I was incredulous when I read it because it was so prescient and just what so many of us on DU were saying at around the same time.

When Wes Clark can't move me then you know I am sticking. I was so happy last night I didn't even remember to drink my celebratory shot of bourbon :)

As Katz said so often when we needed to hear it: "It's happening."

31. Seconded, although...
I really did think Obama would emerge as the nominee last year. Figured he had the star quality, and that Hillary would fade.

My vote for Edwards was in no small part to keep these "rockstars" (don't mean that pejoratively) honest.

It's been a long and wonderful ride. A little bumpy at times, but wonderful nonetheless.

39. Been with Obama since July 2007...
But I have to say thank you and a shout out to Hillary, Bill C (Big Dog), Bill Richardson, Dean (It was your idea to get the whole country on board) Kucinch, Kerry, Gore, General Clark... so many I can't keep count. What a wonderful problem we have to be blessed with so many great canidates.

No wonder we go hammer and tongs sometimes. All our people are off the charts. So many great canidates to pick from

But this is such a good combination, just the right mix for the right time.

OBAMA/BIDEN

DU you rock, ever single one of us

It is better to be us on our worst day, then them (republicans) on their best..:grouphug:

Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 09:14 AM by Gman
I was in absolute awe last night watching the best political speech I've ever seen in my adult life. He did all the things I thought he needed to say including be specific. He wasn't my choice in the primaries, but he is our candidate now. He better friggin' win.
