It's about exciting the base, because McCain realizes this is his only chance. Without the base, he loses big. Well the Republicans will rally around her with a ton of enthusiasm, which has been lacking from the McCain camp. Will it be enough to win the election? Well a lot of that will be decided on whether or not Americans believe she is a real maverick, a debate I'm sure Obama will happily have. But this pick works for McCain, it's the best option he had because it rallies the base and creates enthusiasm. No other candidate, however, could have done that without major, major downsides.

Yeah, call me a concern troll, say I don't get it and say I'm all doom and gloom (though I am not suggesting this election is over). But for picks, this one is one McCain had to make and I think we'll see the polls tighten far more than if he had chosen Pawlenty or Romney.

12. No kidding!
McSame has one foot on a banana peel, and the other, well you know where. And he picks someone with 1 1/2 years experience?????
How on earth are they ever going to use the "experience thing" against us?
Kay Bailey Hutchinson was asked about her, and she came up with "She eats mooseburger, hunts and fishes. She's a breath of fresh air".
WTF?????????

8. Fine, we'll see.
I'll happily eat my words if the polls do not close. If this time next week Obama has a decent lead over McCain, I will come back and say I was wrong.

I'm just saying do not be surprised if this time next week they are tied again.

9. The fundies I know don't believe women should have careers
They believe the woman's place is in the home, taking care of the children.
