As an Alaska resident.. my thoughts on Sarah Palin..
Wow... Never would have thought he'd pick her.

She definitely is lacking in experience, but the rightest of the rightwingers will love her stances.

When she debated in the gubernatorial debates here, the Democratic and Independent candidates had a much better stance of the issues, but was quick to come back with zingers and was good at diverting the topic.

I can see quite a few cons as far as her length of experience.

But one plus that I think everyone will see is how well-spoken she is. If she has ANYTHING going for her, it's her oratory skills.

She was in the lower-48 at a conference a couple of months ago when she went into labor with her 5th baby and she jumped a plane so she could make sure the baby was born in Alaska.

It was a mini-controversy here for a while because she hid the fact she was in labor which is a no-no on airlines.. but that blew over quickly.

I'm surprised he picked her -- but maybe he judged her by looks over experience?

1. The VP position is no joke. McCain is old already.
I would give it a very good chance that he may not even make it through his first term.

6. Yep. And when the big shock wears off...

It won't take long for people to see that she knows nothing about issues outside of Alaska.

Again - it's her speaking skills that are her best asset.

She'll be lost when she debates Biden!!!!!

14. Vote for the old man and the beauty queen!
Good grief. The GOP just threw all their arguments against Obama out the window.

I wonder if they'll keep running the 'celebrity' commercial?

McCain is the oldest man ever to run, and he selects a former beauty queen with zero foreign policy experience to take over if he dies? Is SHE ready to lead?

4. The bobbleheads are calling her a "counterbalance" to McCain..
What are they smoking? Does ANYONE think that McCain will take her counsel on anything?? He doesn't care much for women except as handmaidens. To think that he might ask her advise on anything releted to womens' issues, or "youth"? is laughable.

7. OH hell no. She put that baby at risk. She knew he had downs and risked his life on a plane ride.
That baby needed to have doctors standing by at his birth. That was incredibly irresponsible

11. It was an issue here for maybe 3 days....
But she swore she wasn't in labor when she got on the plane.

It was her dad or some other family member who mistakenly told the media up here that she hauled ass to get on the plane when she knew she was going into labor.

I'll give her this...

She's tough.

When she had the baby before this one, she was back to work THE NEXT DAY!!
