Interesting Palin post from FreeRepublic.
To: Tennessee Nana

Entirely appropriate that the announcement will be made in “Nutter” Auditorium. This pick is nuts.

What is the chief concern voters have about McCain? His age and health and the possibility that if he were elected he could become incapacitated while in office. His age is now more an issue than ever. Is this woman capable of taking over for McCain if necessary? Of course not. And voters will now hesitate and decide McCain made a political decision and did not put his country and its security first. This is not a minor concern when you look at the world situation and the resurgence of Russia and the dangers from Iran. Older voters and those who are not red meat conservatives will not see the logic in this at all.

Another problem with this pick—it takes the Obama age issue off the table as a Republican campaign attack issue. How can Republicans attack Obama as unqualified and a poor choice if they have put in the number two spot someone who is even younger and has almost neglible (sic) experience, certainly none in international affairs? That major issue with Obama has been neutralized. Apparently, Republicans don’t care that a number two isn’t qualified for the job. Why should voters be concerned about Obama? This also looks like McCain is pandering to women voters. Since when are Republicans pushing affirmative action as the basis for a VP pick?

She has a scandal in her background as well. She used her clout to have her brother-in-law fired as a state trooper after her sister was involved with him in a messy divorce.

McCain has shown poor judgment here. This will be the mantra from Democrats and the MSM. Count on it.

There are numerous Palin threads on FR. This post is from this one.

I have to agree with you. Who the hell knows what's wrong with McCain's thinking.

I heard on MSNBC that a lot of Republicans are scratching their heads over this one. Maverick? I think he's just out of it. Hell, Lieberman would have made more sense, or Ridge. But, seems the wing nuts prevail.

Really really good question.

And he also says, "Is she ready to take over? Of course not."

7. The only Freak Republic discussion I saw went something like this
FREEPER 1: "The Dims can't attack Palin's inexperience without drawing attention to Barry Hussein Osama's inexperience".

FREEPER 2: "Ditto".

FREEPER 3: "I agree".

FREEPER 4: "And another thing, the Dims can't attack Palin's inexperience without drawing attention to Barry Hussein Osama's inexperience".

FREEPER 5: "Ditto".

FREEPER 6: "I agree".

(and so on up to about Freeper 154).

Never mind, I'm sure there are plenty of other things to attack her on.

A few brave souls raised a point or two, but this guy (gal?) really gets it.

Do they realize that no republican can ever again say: Is Obama ready to lead? Is Obama ready to be commander in chief? That's ALL they had!! The single most important thing McCain has is the fear crowd believing that he is the tough soldier who can best protect them from terrorists! His first and most important decision, to pick someone who can step in if necessary and he picks a former beauty queen.

9. I disagree with only one point.
We don't need to have any mantra about her. We never need to mention her lack of experience because it has removed THEIR MANTRA which is Obama's lack of experience. It has watered down their greates issue, the war on terror, by selecting someone who has NO foreign policy experience.

Obama/Biden can focus on what they have to offer which is now untarnished since the experience issue has been removed....and they can continue with MORE OF THE SAME. Bush/McCain tie in. She takes nothing from us, adds maybe a few disgruntled Hillary leftovers to McCain.

McCain pulled a great Rovian play...... "

12. What did they expect?
Thread after thread saying "last night's speech sure was great"? Well, it was great. But this is today, and right now the potentially boneheaded Palin pick is also worth talking about.

I think as the discussion goes on the fundamental foolishness of this choice will become apparent.
