Mary Cahill can't be this naive
Its hard to understand the overall campaign strategy since the election. Aside from the traveling bus stop campaign stuff, Kerry and Edwards have been pretty back burner. Even when events fall so that an issue could be made, they've been tepid at best.

The response to Sv attack has been nothing short of the big whine - the expected response from Democrats. Kerry pulls an ad showing film of McCain because it offends him?! Since when do we care what a republican feels about an ad? Its not as though McCain is not completely supporting bush.

Surely Cahill is not under the impression that the Republicans are not going to play hard ball with a capital H. We have got to respond in kind. Kerry should have roared about the SV thing and demanded public proof of their allegations and of the repubs distance from them. He needs to meet bush in a debate and chew him up and spit him out; he must be humiliated. If not, we will finish last because the republicans will stop at nothing. We said in the preconvention days that we were not going to tolerate this kind of campaigning again, and here we are, being the nice guys trying to set the standard while we lost 10% of the veteran votes because we look like such wimps.

Does anyone know if there is some kind of strategy to this spinelessness?

3. Most whining seems to be coming from spineless supporters who listen
more to the republican blather than to our own candidate.

6. Ya gotta admit the swift boat deal was BAD till they fought back
Kerry's poll numbers suffered badly, IMHO because he didn't respond to the swift boat ads for almost two weeks. That was very unwise - just my opinion of course.

4. Kerry and Edwards aren't back burnered and not spineless
They're doing exactly what they should be doing - they're on the road, talking to voters, doing town hall meetings, appearing before huge crowds, working ropelines, getting great local press and winning people over to their side at the local level - in other words, they're campaigning.

Just because we're not getting a blow by blow on CNN on an hourly basis doesn't mean that Kerry-Edwards aren't doing just what they should be doing or that Mary Beth Cahill's campaign strategy is "spineless."

Please, people - let's stop wringing our hands and second guessing every move these folks make. They know what they're doing and they're doing just fine. Of course, they'd do even better if we Democrats got behind them and stopped attacking them because they're not running their campaign based upon what we amateur armchair quarterbacks think they should be doing.

5. agreed
here in Texas I've seen an increasing number of Kerry bumperstickers...may not be enough to turn the tide here...but if it's an indication of the national sentiment i think we're doing well...let's get through the convention...then take off the gloves and play our game...
