The primary field was weak, and though they had a couple of good picks for the Veep spot, those good picks cut their phone lines, locked up the house, and pulled the shades to avoid being contacted. The possiblity of being labelled Bush IV would be the political kiss of death.

In contrast, we had an INCREDIBLE primary field, one of the best I've seen, from very early on. Whoever won, we all came out winners--we simply could not lose.

Then, our Veep field was almost equally good.

The rnc doesn't WANT to lose the election--this is simply the best ticket they could come up with.
