McCain's message to women: You're interchangable.
Here's the thing about this Palin pick. It shows with stark clarity just how much condescension and contempt for women McCain and his band of backroom boys have.

"Okay, ladies, you loved Hillary Clinton so much?" McCain is saying. "Here's a substitute that'll sure to please. Why not? What's the difference? They both got ovaries and breasts. I know that's what matters most to you gals. That's the only message your eighteen million votes sent.

"It doesn't matter that Palin has only a scant few years of any noteworthy governmental experience.

"It doesn't matter that she approves of teaching creationism and disapproves of a woman's right to choose.

"It doesn't matter that she's enmeshed in a grubby little scandal involving pushing too much of her power around -- after all, this sort of behavior always worked so well in the Bush administration, so why not continue with a new set of bullies?

"It doesn't matter that she herself says she knows nothing about the office of Vice President for which I'm nominating her.

"Yes, I'll put my arm around Sarah Palin and you'll all rush to support me, ignoring your own values and principles and ideals. You ladies are gullible, see. Attracted by pretty fluffy things. Ignorant of substance. Caring only about a woman's gender irrespective of what sort of woman she is. That's why I can pass over all the other older, more intelligent, more experienced Republican women who might seem too butch and unattractive -- or worse, actually have an opinion on things I don't agree with -- and instead throw a dart at a board to select a hopelessly underqualified candidate a heartbeat away from the presidency.

"Hey, if there's one thing I know, it's that one women can easily be substituted for another."

I think McCain is egregiously mistaken about what women care about. I think we women -- especially the HRC fans -- will gladly tell McCain and Palin just what they can do with their insulting, cynical assumptions about what really matters to us ... not just as women, but as Americans. And we'll say it with our voices and our votes.

1. Palin is no HRC. What's more, HRC fans are a particular type.
McSame just insulted women with this choice.

2. Well "interchangeable" is probably a step up for women, unfortunately.

Just goes to show you, ultimately no one wins when one group is discriminated against for centuries.

5. he has no respect for women as equals, only as
things to emblish him, or enable him.

I don't say this about most men, but his decietful use of the women in his life disgusts me.

4. he is counting on the low info voter
and we can only hope that women across america are smarter than that. we women have to unite and tell every woman we know by phone, email, etc what sarah really stands for.

i immediately sent an email to my two daughters 26 & 29 knowing they wouldn't know her as they both asked me who Joe was.

I think Sarah and who she is needs to be said asap!!!

6. Good for you!
I agree completely. We'll spread the message and they'll see just what they can do with their cynical attempt to gain from the HRC juggernaut. I'm not even a particular fan of Hillary's (though she's my senator here in NY) but I respect her achievements and values far more than I do this glorified beauty queen's.

8. If Palin doesn't work right McCain can pick another one just like he did
with his first wife.
