The RNC's Plan Worked
Yesterday my family and I watched Obama accept the Democratic nomination and give a glorious 44 minute speech which was moving and addressed the issues.
This morning Grandpa McSimson picks a no name woman to be his V.P. and suddenly Obama's speech is forgotten. It is forgotten here and forgotten by the talking heads on the news channels.

I loved Obama last night. He moved me to tears.

BUT... McCain's pick for VP is meant to attract all the disgruntled Hillary voters - as if women, by virtue only of their sex, will vote for any woman, no matter how inexperienced and how out of touch with the rest of the world she is - I can not believe there are that many mindless, YES MINDLESS, women out there who will vote for the most scary candidate to run in decades, McSame, simply because he has a woman as his running mate. The RNC has many "plants" who are going to talk about being life long democrats and now they are going to vote for McShame because he reached out to women by selecting a female running mate.

Hillary supporters, the real ones, will vote for Obama...

To the PUMA's, I say:

Boo-fucking-hoo.

As a woman I am insulted.

As a human I am outraged.

As a citizen of this planet I am afraid for the future of my children and their children.

Here is Sarah Palin On the issues: http://www.ontheissues.org/Sarah_Palin.htm It will take you all of 10 seconds to scan the page.

1. That was the plan, that has been the plan for weeks...
McShame said he was picking his VP today anyway... everyone knew this was going to happen, well everyone but you I guess.

You did not think that the news cycle was going to ignore this?

2. It didn't work. Obama's speech won't be forgotten by anyone who heard it,
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 04:24 PM by ocelot
and today's media spotlight on Palin isn't necessarily a good thing for them. We are learning a whole lot about how unqualified she is and what a dumb decision McCain made. Don't let what the media talk about control what you think.

4. I am not a bone head
I do not allow the media control what I think.

I am noting the hundreds of threads here about McShame and the very few about Obama's acceptance speech - Yes, the RNC plan worked. Read the OPs here.

6. Well, of course people are going to talk about it. It's news and it's important.
But everyone knew weeks ago that he was going to announce his VP pick today. No matter who was chosen there would be a lot of discussion about it, both here and in the media. WTF did you expect? My point is that the effect of Obama's speech, and the DNC in general, will long survive today's chatter about Palin. The RNC's plan did NOT work. You have to look at the big picture.

3. In a nutshell
Good: guns, drilling for oil, the family, Jesus.
Bad: abortion, taxes, gay marriage, evolution, caribou habitats.

Pretty much boilerplate conservative Republican, apart from the bit about fully funding education.

7. You're assuming that all press is good press. This is NOT good press for McSame
What the press coverage and attention to this choice is doing is proving to us that McCain has shitty judgement. We all saw Obama last night telling us that McCain has shitty judgement, and then he comes out today and displays it in spades.

Yes people are paying attention, but it's not for any good reason. People will just sit back in their chairs and say "Shit! That guy last night was right!"

This is McSame's doom. From now on Obama and Biden are going to look so good, so experienced, so dead on, that after the laughter dies down, we won't hear much from McSame again. Watch the RNC coverage next week. I bet it's half-hearted at best.

17. Except that 42 MILLION Americans watched the speech themselves
This is unprecedented. It means 42 million saw the speech directly, not afterward through the filter of the MSM spin. That is a LOT of people.

11. Gilligan, you are right.
I wholeheartedly supported Hillary and still would vote for her in a skinny minute. However, Barack Obama is our nominee and I wholeheartedly support him 1000% for president. He will be the next president of the United States.
This convention secured my vote for him. I am embarrassed to say that I fell asleep 10 about 10 minutes before he came on and woke up to the cheering as his speech ended. The commentary on his acceptance speech is all I heard and that won me over. I will have to watch the speech on You Tube.
This Palin person is not going to get any of Hillary's votes just because she is a woman.

It was so cathartic... I am not the weepy kind but I was doing just that. Seriously, have tissues with you.

As far as this Sarah Palin, I hope sanity prevails and she's exposed for the joke she is rather than pushed as some sort of "reformer maverick" because wow... people can't possibly be THIS stupid can they?

:banghead:

The Republicans are big on keeping the country and the world safe and hey, so's everyone else but tell THEM that. Anyway, do they possibly think this "hockey mom" who's missing a TON of positions on that issues website because she's just THAT green... will they HONESTLY think she is suited to take over THE biggest job in the world and be able to pull that lever for her? I don't know. I just don't know. I personally would feel VERY unsafe with her as Veep. I can think of about twenty Republicans I absolutely DESPISE who I would trust more in that position, and I truly mean that. Godforbid... I would even feel safer with Bobby Jindal the Wacky Exorcist as VP because at least, for our major disagreements, he's at LEAST a Rhodes scholar with a MASTERS degree in Political Science and has true qualifications to point to. I can't even think of a worse pick than her with less experience. What's she got, honestly? A newborn with Down Syndrome, and that's a selling point for the job -- how many times did I hear this touted today?! A degree in communications and journalism?! Dear, sweet, merciful Jesus what deep shit we'd be in, and ANY... ANY remotely rational Republican would be forced to concede the point. She didn't even know what the job of Vice President entails... and she's a GOVERNOR. She hadn't really thought about Iraq and didn't even know McCain's position on the war... wtf?!

We HAVE to win.

For my own sanity, I HAVE to ask my conservative dad what he thinks about this pick, like for real, outside of what he's hearing on Hannity. I need to know.

but last night was an experience that changed my life
and THAT i will cherish for the rest of my life.
I do believe last night and this coming election
will be remembered by generations of people
around the world. This is the time we said ENOUGH.
This is the time OUR hope started a revolution.

Things will never be the same after last night.
We ARE the change we wish to see.

15. My antennae had a little vibration...
I had a glimpse of Cindy McCain when John and Sarah were standing at the podium. John was very gracious and smiley. Cindy looked like she was TRYING to look happy. It's very hard to not look jealous whether you are or not. I bet Cindy does not want the strain of this couple winning.

Anyway, I don't think the Reps put in Sarah to actually win, I think they are getting her name out there now to do something important with her in 2012. Very smart of them.
