There are 74 COUNTIES that have higher populations than Alaska:

17 cities as well. McCain really expects us to believe someone with one and a half years of being governor in a distant, atypical, tiny US state, which is not connected to most of the issues the country at large faces can be a credible commander-in-chief?

4. That is not the same thing as governing
Its a moot point anyway. Look at the line up of Presidents since FDR. Harry Truman was an Senator. Ike never governed anyone, he did command a lot of folks thought. JFK was a rep and a senator. LBJ was a senator, Nixon was was a rep and senator. Ford was rep. Carter was Governor of Georga, Reagan was governor of California. Bush was a government Buearucrat, Clinton was Governor of Arkansas. Bush II was Governor of Texas. Some good presidents have come from the legislature, some for governorships. What really counts is the individual.
