Unqualified? Check.

Vapid? check.

Inexperienced? Check.

Chosen in large part for attractiveness? (surprisingly) Check--it was true with Dan Quayle, RNC surrogates admitted as much).

Lightweight? Check.

Married to someone with disturbing ties to Big Corporations? Check (true with Quayle, true with Sarah Palin, married to a FOREIGN OIL executive).

Grooming and personal style (makeup, clothing--CHANGEABLE things)? Check, in this five-inch heel wearing feminist's opinion--but OTHERS MAY DIFFER.

Parenthood choices? Tread very, very, very carefully. That's one of the most intimate and emotional choices a woman and responsible men can make in life.

I've got what I consider a great sense of humor and I'm not at all easily offended, but I'll call out veiled or blatant bigotry when I see it (even when the sexism is directed at males). I'm not saying DON'T post it, but I am saying that sexism and racism and plenty of other -isms are alive and well and if you've never been a victim of them you can't always understand how it feels to be one.

Honestly, I haven't seen much criticism of Palin that doesn't jibe with the points you checked above. I think maybe you should stow your indignation. It seems that the current G.O.P. meme out there (brilliantly if unwittingly being echoed today by DUers) that "any criticism of Sarah Palin is sexist." Certainly, it will be a huge boon for the McInsane campaign if that can become "gospel truth" for us.

She's such a pathetically bad choice on every level imaginable that we don't have to go the "only because she has a vagina" route--which yes indeed I witnessed. The thread was locked early, but it was there.

Pro-choice means pro-choice. Freedom and equality of opportunity for women means for women who are right wing Republican hacks, too. Keeping families out of political attacks includes not attacking a new mom for advancing her career a few months after her child is born.

I'm a Democrat because I value people and believe in treating them with dignity and respect. In the outside noninternet world, all the Democrats I meet seem to share that value.

It's one thing to point out that--but quite another (sadly, yes I saw this too) to go rabidly after her for choosing to have several children. I have an only child, not my choice, but my fate, but that doesn't make me better or worse than she on that issue alone.

It's a valid discussion. IMHO, but it needs to be approached carefully.
