Is "the surge" the only thing Lindsey Graham aka Deputy Dog knows?
You'd think freakin' McCain split the atom and turned dog shit into chocolate ice cream with one wave of his hand.

I'd like to know why Bush and now McCain has started to echo Obama's positions on Iraq and Afghanistan?

I'd like to know why McCain continually conflates and confuses Sunni and Shia? I'd also like to know why McCain stood up 5 years ago and said that Sunni and Shia have no history of violence in Iraq?

Why did McCain continually say Iraq was going to be easy? Why did he buy into "Mission Accomplished"?

Is McCain knowledgable enough to be able to distinguish between Shia groups like the Badr Brigades and the Mahdi Army? Can McCain explain their relationships with both the Iranian and Iraqi governments?

Does McCain know anything about the Sunni tribes and the history of the Uprising? Does he understand that many of those tribes people we are arming we actually part of what he called "Al-qaeda" and fought against us, and now they are becoming angry again? Does he plan to continue arming them and giving them aid? How does he stop them from becoming violent again?

Can McCain define what "winning" is in Iraq and outline steps, not just talking points, about how we will get there?

As far as I can tell, McCain doesn't know any of these answers, and it's basic Iraq 101 type stuff. Deputy Dog can keep harping on the all powerful presence of The Surge, but exploiting it like this is the be all end all in Iraq is ridiculous. The situation in Iraq and the region is much more complex than that, in the end, "The Surge" has never done what it was supposed to do, and that's lead to political reconciliation. They don't really address that. Calling "Mission Accomplished" on a military tactic, before a war is remotely over sounds familiar.

Oh that's because Bush did it once 5 years ago, then Iraq blew up in his face, that's what happens when somebody tries to exploit a military tactic for political gain before the job is done. Right now, "The Surge" is John McCain's "Mission Accomplished" moment. He's crowing about something before the job has even been done. And if he's president, I guarantee this type of ignorance will blow up in his face.

1. "ll say it again. Where's the proof that the surge is working?
All it's been is rhetoric. No pictures or other tangible evidence that the surge is working.

I think the emperor has no clothes and it's high time we start saying it.

The analogy I've used on the surge is that we've been outscored in a basketball game by 40 points, but we still claim to have won the game because we outscored the opponent in the fourth quarter.

Just my take on the thing.

2. They conceded the talking point and allowed it to be built into
some huge success by McCain and it isn't. The whole point of the surge failed and that was political reconciliation. And we know that communities are more divided than ever.
