Let's leave Palin alone. Let's not criticize her at all
What are the odds that the Repukes would win (OR STEAL) an election?
Who cares if we have a total and complete newb one fragile heartbeat away from the Presidency?
Who should care that we'd have a vicious pro-life, pro-creationism, anti-global warming, anti-polar bear, anti-everything progressive picking the next FEW SUPREME COURT JUSTICES!!!

Look at her and tell me that we shouldn't "pick" on her because she's a mommy or a woman.

If we dont pick her apart, there is a chance that she could pick two or three Supreme's.

So let's not "play nice" this is important. She's dangerous and needs to be outed in the public where no one has ever heard of her, but they already "seem" to like her....she's a hockey mom...

9. Like Dennis Kucinich said.....
" Wake up People".....Bill Cosby's granddaughter said, " Come on People"....These are such intelligent people and I just like them so much that I could cry when I hear and see them. There are many other people that I admire for their intestinal fortitude, but you all know who they are. I think most of the people on here are of the same mind and it is a pleasure to be here. 10. Oh get over yourself. No one is saying don't attack her, we're saying attack her on the things that
will actually be effective.

Bullshit speculations about the parentage of baby Trig are NOT an effective line of attack.

Attack her for being a fundy creationist global warming denying anti-envrionmental anti-birth control corrupt nepotist sleazo nutcase.

If you're getting caught up in fact-free arguments about when her fucking "water broke", or whether her baby is actually her daughter's, you are wasting time and energy. Go for what will WORK. Go for EMPIRICAL FACTS.

Leave the lurid gossip to the National Enquirer.

12. By picking on her we may be falling into a trap...
What this commenter ("Plunger") wrote at The BRAD BLOG is worth consideration:

... This entire Palin selection is a Rovian head fake. It was designed by Rove to accomplish two goals. First and foremost, to take ALL of the air out of the media that the Obama camp was destined to carry into the GOP convention. It did that, in spades. The echo just simply stopped. The news cycle yesterday was absent of any analysis or follow-through on Obama's speech...itself a major coup for Rove. It’s as though the entire media machine stopped speaking of anything “Democratic,” in unison.

Secondly, the (apparent) selection of Palin throws a bone to the Puma's and to women generally…one that McCain doesn’t have to necessarily follow through with, but made for a nice (disingenuous) photo-op.

Third; they're just not that stupid not to have known about the controversy - and her familial requirements and responsibilities (Downs Syndrome newborn to care for). In short, their unbelievable choice is in fact, unbelievable..."a straw-woman."

By the time the convention occurs, news will come out that the GOP's own investigators have determined that, while no proof of wrong doing exists, the mere investigation of it is a distraction that the GOP simply cannot afford so close to the election. As such, the announcement that either Lieberman or Romney have become McCain’s choice will come as a massive relief to the GOP base, and capture the entire news cycle for weeks to come. If Rove thought it would be impossible for a McCain/Lieberman ticket to succeed without some form of trickery, he would have dreamed this up, making Lieberman look good by comparison. All of the push-back will already be out of the system.

He’s pulled these same stunts in the past – like putting Bernie Kerik’s name into nomination only to pull him and install Chertoff as Homeland Security Dictator. Remember when the name of Harriet Miers was put forward for a Supreme Court position? Remember? A fire storm of push back erupted, only to be followed by the swift and easy confirmation of Roberts, who looked like a breath of fresh air BY COMPARISON. THEY ARE GAMING YOU!

(Note: This was an off-topic comment, not relevant to the OP at The BRAD BLOG, but I found it quite interesting.)

17. Attacking her through her teenaged daughter is both slimy and unnecessary,
no matter how big and tough it makes some of the Karl Rove wannabes here. It arouses sympathy for her, and distracts from more important issues she should be nailed on.

If you feel squeamish about discussing this particular scam, there are many ways to make it disappear from your screen.

19. The campaign should certainly treat her as a respected equal
and only hit her on issues but the general population shouldn't hesitate to throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks. Like the other side, I don't see why we should pull a punch and throw sand in the eyes in a scrap.

Women need to be pushing back on the media's DEMANDS that she be treated with a gentle touch. That's bull, it's disgusting, and says women aren't so equal after all. What's the hell is this? She's going for VP and damn well should be able to stand up to the most strident attacks.

18. No. Attack her HARD on the issues, there are PLENTY of those
That can easily be done without resorting to using her parenting skills or some standards that are different for candidates who are men or some "juicy gossip" that's floating around.

This is the 3rd thread in the past 10 minutes where I've copied and pasted that exact response. It's not rocket surgery, ffs.

21. This pick seems to be an effort to re-invigorate the culture wars.
Since the pubs have no new ideas or record to run on, they have to rely on petty divisiveness. I am not saying don't criticize her, but be smart about how you do it and don't buy into their scenario.

For me personally, this has re-invigorated my commitment to Obama's campaign, along with the great convention speech. I was already showing up sporadically at HQ to do phone banking, but I am really going to up my time commitment now. This pick is a deeply cynical effort to manipulate the electorate. It proves that McCain is reckless and lacks the temperament to lead.

23. I'm all for criticizing her being FOR the bridge to nowhere before she was against it.
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 11:25 AM by redqueen
I'm all for criticizing her ignorance about just about any national issues.

I'm all for criticizing her ignorance about McCain's stance on lobbyists.

I'm all for criticizing her possibly leaving her tiny town $24 million in debt.

Not sure who said not to attack her... perhaps you're conflating what some people are saying to let go of with things that are worthy of being attacked because they're NOT in the M$M yet... those actual issues stories do NOT have legs yet with the rumor I suspect you're probably complaining about not being able to endlessly speculate about.

27. I'm all for attacking Palin...
but leave her kids out of it. As a strategy, it's an epic fail to talk about the baby and Bristol or whether the "breaking water" story is bullshit. It's the political equivalent of anti-radar chaff, a distraction to keep us from talking about the things that could scuttle their ticket. It'll look like an unfair attack, one which will turn off voters if we keep harping on a non-issue like who is Trig's mommy, whether Sarah Palin got on a plane in labor or whether the mother of a Downs' baby has the time to be VP.

There is enough ammo in her positions, inexperience/lack-of-qualification and troopergate to cut her to mincemeat.

29. Let's go after her on how her beliefs affect her
decision-making. And we need to find out if her husband has been running things in AK behind the scenes.

Her lack of knowledge abou Iraq and other issues, foreign and domestic, are all on the table. She shouldn't be allowed to cry "foul" just because the opposition is revealing her weaknesses.

her inexperience. If she looks like she is a strong success for McCain then you attack her for her policies.
