She should be held to exactly the same standards as a man. No more, no less.

Pulling punches with Palin merely because she is a woman is an insult to all women. And pretending that her credentials for the VP job aren’t laughable is an insult to Hillary and to all the other women who are far more accomplished. Her credentials are NOT impressive, not for the job she’s applying for. Historians say she would be the least qualified VP in modern history – and maybe, ever.

How would Obama and his campaign have reacted if McCain had appointed a MALE evangelical who had been Governor of Alaska for less than two years, and before then, a tiny town mayor and P.T.A. leader? A male evangelical with only a journalism B.A. who had worked as a sports broadcaster? Who is the target of an ongoing ethics investigation?

That is exactly how they should be responding to this joke of an appointment.

Professional women aren’t asking for special treatment.

They’re asking for FAIR treatment. And for the Obama campaign to treat Sarah Palin any more gingerly than they would Sam or Stan Palin – just because she is a woman – is NOT FAIR.

1. Obama should barely acknowledge her
Biden should rip both her and McCain at all times.

5. Actually it should be our Women bishops, knights and rooks
Of the Democratic Party that should be doing the attacks right now.
You protect the King(Obama) with the queen(Biden) for right now.

6. Fine, as long as Biden does his job. He didn't hold back with Hillary, so
hopefully he won't with this lightweight.

11. I'm a lot happier with him than I was with Edward as the attack dog in 2004
Joe is much more formidable in that role.

19. Obama's Opponents play checkers or craps he plays chess and
is a master at defensive kung fu. Wait for the counter punch, this is the smartest
team I've seen in decades. I expect he will have the king in check and then checkmate
before the second debate.

2. It might be insulting, but it is good politics.
Focus on McCain = Bush and the economy. Hit that home.

7. But there is a HIGH risk that McCain won't complete his term. We shouldn't
be ignoring the fact that she is not qualified to take over if he dies or steps down.

3. You know the Repugs will spin it that Barack is being mean to a girl
THIS is a job for Hillary Clinton. If Hillary REALLY wants to help Obama, she should be on every talking head show EVISCERATING this pretend barbie-doll Veep.

8. In the debate, it will be Biden's job -- and he better not hold back for fear
of being "mean to a girl."

13. He's going to have to. By the time of the debate, the issue will already be framed
The danger is that the Democrats won't understand this until it's too late.

16. By the time that debate rolls around, Biden will be the mean old man picking on a girl
That's why we need Hillary. Right or wrong, people already think of her as "meaner" than either Biden or Obama. And, from the press' POV, she can make the case against a woman much better than any man can. The sexist MSM will show up to cover the "cat fight" -- which will put Hillary on every talk show taking Palin apart.

She could even pressure the McWorse campaign to schedule a joint appearance for Palin with her. That would be awesome.

4. If he doesn't focus his attacks on McCain, it will backfire.
She should be held to the same standards as a man, but the reality is, she won't be. Obama needs to focus on McCain's reckless judgment, and the similarities his policies have to Bush's. He needs to keep hitting McCain without letting him come up for air. Palin needs to be left alone. McCain is the one who chose this person who is wholly unqualified to step in as President should something happen to him. The fact that a prospective President would make such a poor choice for political reasons, without thinking about the real consequences, is just one of the many proofs that he is not fit for the Presidency.

9. That makes sense. I'm all for using this appointment to question McCain's
judgment -- or lack thereof, and his impulsiveness and gambler mentality.

The objections here are to attacking her through her daughter.

20. I've seen many posts suggesting that Obama/Biden should hold their attacks
so it doesn't look like they're being "mean to a girl." And I'm not talking about the baby-attacks. I'm talking about going after her lack of experience. Some people here and elsewhere are saying that to do that risks alienating women.

Just the sound of her right wing screach will make Biden's blood boil and He will be the viscious attack dog he has to be to defeat these people.

18. Obama? No. I have a better surrogate in mind.
Hillary.

Convince Hillary to attack Gidget like a ravenous pit bull. Whatever value Gidget has, HRC could easily annihilate it if she wanted to.
