Palin and the National Guard
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/mm4Obama/gG5Tyy
from Military Mom 4 Obama:

Sarah Palin says she is the "Commander-in-Chief of the Alaskan National Guard". Those are words in which she is using to make her appear ready to be "Commander-in-Chief" of the United States of America. Actually the Governor has very little day to day involvement with the command of the National Guard. It is the states' AG (Adjutant General)/Commissioner who oversees the Army and Air National Guard. In Alaska, it is Major General Craig E. Campbell. Maj. General Campbell is assisted by Brigidier General Thomas Katkas, Army National Guard Commander, and Brigidier General Deborah McManus, Air National Guard Commander.

On June 30, 2008 the Alaskan Air National Guard 176th Wing held a ground breaking ceremony for their historic move. Senator Ted Stevens was in attendance; however, there wasn't any mention of Govenor Sarah Palin. http://www.ak-prepared.com/dmva/Press_Releases/2008/08_June/Alaska%20Air%20National%20Guard%20Groundbreaking%20Ceremony.pdf Now she is traveling the country with Senator John McCain as his candidate for Vice President of the United States.

Govenor Palin does have the authority to activate the National Guard in times of crisis; however, her role is essentially very limited. Does this really qualify her to be Commander-in-Chief of the United States? Eighteen months in a politically appointed position, which has no hands on, day to day involvement with the administration of one of this country's military resources. Has Senator John McCain shown good judgement by choosing her as his Vice Presidential candidate? Is he really putting "country first" or is he just trying to win an election?

I have 3 sons who are active duty military, who have been deployed numerous times. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran and recently retired from the Army National Guard. My family has a long military history dating back to WWII. Please do your research and ask yourself if you can really see Sarah Palin as "Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America"? If you see this as I do, a political ploy, then please talk to everyone you know. Call your family and friends. Spread the word and use your vote wisely in November. Vote Obama/Biden!
