First the basics:
Side A throws everything at the walls of side B and sees what sticks
Side B throws everything at the walls of Side A and sees what sticks
What ever sticks become the "issues"
Now in this campaign Obama is going to try and stay above this nastiness. That doesn't mean the liberals and Democrats should do that as well. In fact it means we have a bigger obligation to do the mudslinging, so he doesn't have to. As much as we all wish campaigns were about issues and qualifications, it's not. It's about who can sling the better mud. This includes the willingness not to allow any topic to be off limits and the discipline of repeating the same successful talking points ad naseum.
This brings us to this week's RNC Convention. Be warned the republicans are going to say lots of nasty (and often untrue stuff) about Obama, Biden and Dems and liberals in general. The MSM will say both good and bad things about what is said, just like that did for the DNC convention (of course the Faux/GOP news doesn't count). Now hopefully all DUers will understand this will happen and this week will not be a not stop parade of hand wringing and anger posts about what is being said. Better to post counter arguments and correct their factual "mistakes".
