Cindy McCain tells Stephanopoulos that Obama Offended Her

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/08/cindy-mccain-te.html

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democrats' attacks on her family's wealth are unfair and offensive, Cindy McCain said today in an interview airing tomorrow on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

For nearly two weeks, Democrats have repeatedly hit Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for saying he is unaware of how many houses he owns, calling the presumptive Republican presidential nominee out of touch with everyday Americans. In his acceptance speech at the Democratic convention on Thursday, Democratic nominee Barack Obama turned up the heat on McCain, saying he "doesn't know" about the lives of middle-class Americans.

"I'm offended by Barack Obama saying that about my husband," said McCain's wife Cindy.
When asked if Obama went too far in his criticism of McCain, Cindy responded, "I do. I do. I really do."

McCain also said beer the distributorship her father built, which is the source of much her family's wealth, typifies the American Dream.

"My father had nothing. He and my mother sold everything they had to raise $10,000," she said. "I'm proud of what my dad and my mother did and what they built and left me. And I intend to carry their legacy as long as I can."

4. Yeah...we can't admire John for dumping his wife for Cindy
And we can't admire Cindy for forging prescriptions to steal drugs from her charity.

We MUST admire John for spending 5 and a half years in a POW camp, because he tells us DAILY that we SHOULD.

But other than that, the couple SUCKS.

13. Great article about how Pop Hensley built his business. He got his start bootlegging
for the mob. He was convicted by the Feds but never served any time. Here's a link to the article in The New Republic called "MADE MAN: How Cindy Hensley invented John McCain". Lengthy but worth the read:

20. Kind of seems that way. It seems that Cindy always felt a responsibility to redeem
the family name by marrying well. She really created John McCain the politician in the early years and in the process whitewashed her own family's history.

9. Her father was handed the distributorship by an old bootlegger he worked for
That's what investigative journalists learned years ago. Cindy is trying to rewrite the history.

15. As a longtime New Times reader, I don't know why the "approaching left-biased"
wing of the m$m doesn't trot out the likes of Amy Silverman and Mike Lacey to appear. They both know McCain better than anyone--and unlike most of the media both locally and nationally, have never been charmed by him--in fact--thye have been everything but.

18. It can be easily verified again that Cindy's father went to jail, albeit a short time
His sentence included that he never be in the liquor business again. But what does that matter when you've been General Manager for the power pol of Arizona? Thus, he gets rewarded for taking the fall for said power broker.

And this was all revealed in 2000.

You ask a good question.

19. "It is possible for the rich to sin by coveting the privileges of the poor."
From "Brideshead Revisited" by Evelyn Waugh,

Cindy shows there are few rich people who get it. Especially today's rich who deserve the wealth even less than their parents who probably stole the money from working people by not paying a living wage. Or they stole it by inveting in companies that didn't pay living wages.
