The Palin nomination insults men as much as women (or more).
Isn't it possible that Sen. McCain picked her largely to get the fundie base excited AND because he thought a "hot chick" would attract male independents and Republican men who might otherwise have stayed home in November (or voted for Bob Barr)?

As stupid as Sen. McCain is, I have to think someone in his camp would have told him that Sen. Clinton voters weren't going to support someone who opposed practically every position Sen. Clinton has ever taken. Even he could have figured out that wavering women voters would probably have preferred one of the less fundie and more experienced Republican women he could have chosen.
