Why are only the Repukes in New Orleans?
Or maybe I'm just missing the reports about Obama or some other prominent Dem going down there? I sure as hell hope so because I am just LIVID to read about how McCain and Bushco are exploiting the city and the hurricane victims. NYTimes is reporting that McCain is even considering making his acceptance speech from the Gulf region! WTF? Have they no fucking shame?
But more importantly, why isn't Obama going down there? Surely the remaining residents would much rather see him than fucking Bush.

1. Maybe the dems don't think they have to chase ambulances to get elected.

18. nice breeze and clouds keeping the heat down
we are more watching the other one shes predicted to make kandfall near north of us which puts us on the rough side of the storm when it hits
hopefully it will veer to the east and hit the low country in the carolinas or swing out oceanward and fizzle
if it comes im ready got a shotgun a pickup truck and a country boy will survive
small generator already checked and ready

i would welcome a direct hit on the north end of patrick afb
theres about 1/4 mile between the river and the ocean there and a new inlet would revitalize the lagoon

not in use either by the af so its the perfect place for a huge disaster lol
they would have to build a bridge over a1a to connect to cocoa beach but other than that it is the best that could happen

24. Well, if your lagoon gets revitalized, stay safe....you sound like an old hand at this
so I won't worry too loudly..

12. I'm critical of Puke pandering because that's all it is
and we and the people in New Orleans know it. But if Obama wants to be President, he should be there, just as Bush should have done
immediately the last time. Or even not go himself but have someone check things out rather than rely on Bushco for "information".

And also, yes, because politically it looks bad if the Repubs go and the Dems don't. It's stupid, yes. But this is what people look at. I mean, we are talking about an electorate that thinks that someone who doesn't wear a flag pin is a traitor. An electorate that can be convinced- at least half of it- that John Kerry is a girly boy and Bush is a macho man.

17. Again with all the big advice for the campaign.
Obama didn't get where he is today by taking the advice of me and every other election expert on this board.

I hope he doesn't start.

10. Sending Obama down there

Would create a mass confusion, it would simply be bothersome to the people battling what could be (hope not) a big cleanup. Obama, not because of him, but because of the nature of who he is would really be a nusance, be in the way.

Even if Obama were to go down there and physically fill sandbags, he'd still be 'in the way'.

Obama is doing the best thing he can do...providing indirect support thru his email and keeping abreast of the situation from afar, but staying away to allow the proper authorities to handle the situation.

Meanwhile, Lumpy McDipshitz and Mary Moose are heading down there to fuck up the entire proceedings to clean just for a friggin photo op.

11. How can a politician from outside
with zero authority to give directions much less orders going to do with a CAT3 Hurricane bearing down on them?

For McCain or anyone else to go there now is simply grandstanding and interfering with official business.

Once the storm has passed, then render whatever assistance you can in the way of bodies of volunteers, cash, food, water etc. but for G-d's sake stay out of the damned way!

15. McLame is overplaying this hurricane thing.
He's definitely politicizing other people's misery and it will come back to bite him in the ass if he keeps it up. Enough, already! If he delivers his acceptance speech from the coast, that will be transparently offensive. He could not possibly be doing anything helpful by being there.

20. Does McCain seriously think that NOLA has forgotten
his response to Katrina? When he (and the MSM) show up in the aftermath, and they start interviewing the victims, what do think they're going to say?

21. I agree .....
The Repugs will have their faces all over the news in New Orleans and the lemmings will say WOW they really care and are trying to help.

The problem Is Obama knows if he shows up it will take police away from doing what they need to do because the police and SS will have to protect the candidates.

Obama is doing the right thing but it will cost him voters
