Klein (Time) weighs in on McCain/Palin - "Gunslinger"
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 11:56 PM by pinto
Indeed, the Palin pick reflects the most dangerous tendencies in McCain's foriegn policy--the tendency to react, to overreact, to crises, without thinking it through. It also reflects a defiant, adolescent "screw you" attitude toward governance.

<snip>

The problem is, there is absolutely no way on earth that John McCain can know what sort of person she really is, which is why this choice--his first major presidential decision--should be a matter of real concern for all Americans. He has proven himself, yet again, ready on day one--to shoot from the hip.

2. This is the real problem
He obviously did no vetting since his campaign is in Wasilla now. He may as well have just thrown a dart. Terrible judgment, really awful.

3. Living up to the "maverick" meme?
I don't know WTF went on here, but am of the opinion that none of this is his idea, he's no more in control of his campaign than George is of his administration.

I know: :tinfoilhat:

6. Good one.
"Quick! Someone from Amway or Juice Plus get this guy signed up! He is an impulse buyer just like Bush is!"

10. I have a brother in Amway and friends in Juice +
I know the type and McCain strikes me someone who would buy into that kind of thing if he wasn't married to a billionaire. Bush even more so! Bush would fit right into an Amway convention.

7. Klein has experienced a radical transformation
I love the way he defends progressives from right wing a-holes. He was not like this a couple of years ago.

13. EXCELLENT!! KICK AND RECOMMENDED!!! I liked the very first comment on the time-blog..this is the
big deal with me and why among other reasons I find this selection just so disturbing:

The word "experience" is bandied about too freely today. The problem with Palin is that she has no foreign policy views or record whatsoever. Obama, Clinton and McCain have foreign policy views and world views that we can agree or disagree on. You can evaluate their judgment. Palin does not have any recorded world view. How can we evaluate her judgment?

This makes it very irresponsible of McCain to choose her as VP, especially since he has impressed upon us that this is a dangerous time in world history. Posted by SSB | August 30, 2008 11:35 AM
