Will Sarah Palin Energize The Liberal Base, The Same Way She Energized The Conservative Base?
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 08:59 AM by malik flavors
Do you think the selection of Sarah Palin will bring those liberals back to the Obama campaign that might have left after he moved towards the middle? Her extreme views have won over the religious right and the Rush Limbough crowd, so will she also pull third party voters back to the democratic ticket?

I personally feel it's that much more important that we elect Obama/Biden now that Palin is on the ticket. Somebody with her extreme views really has no place in the oval office, especially after Bush/Cheney. It's made me more passionate about the democratic ticket and I think it will get us back some of those people that might have ventured off after the primaries.

4. Unfortunately, the fundie base has SO much more time on their hands.
When you can't have any FUN in life your only outlet is righteous anger and trying to control others.
Sadly, most liberals have other fulfilling activities in their lives so they can rarely be as focussed.

That said, I think the specter of a McLame/Palin presidency is about as scary a call to action as one could get.
Hopefully, that will sharpen the minds of all who are involved.

5. Should - not for inexperience but for insanity. Very scary.
She's got some crazy extreme beliefs - not even positions. She scares the hell out of me. I'd like to see what would happen if she took truth serum and had to answer questions about creation, the end times, gays, blacks, Jews, a woman's role, Muslims, Atheists, he'll even other sects of Christianity, not to mention history, science, education and economics.

6. I expect that if this pair is still the pug ticket
there will be lines waiting to vote for Obama/Biden 6-8-10 hours after the polls close.

That's the good news.

The crush of voters will enable all sorts of chicanery, and the votes will vanish.

7. Probably not. But she should.
People here are paying more attention to the stupid baby story then the complete insanity of the pick.

Palin is extremely far right. And she is, by far, the most mediocre person ever on a major ticket.

I still can't get my head around this. She seems like she might be a nice person, but that's it.

She has no record of excelling at anything in life. The single noteworthy accomplishment in her life is becoming governor of Alaska, and she lucked into that by running on an anti-corruption theme against a horribly corrupt incumbent governor. In her 18 months governor, she's shown no particular skill or vision.

Palin makes '88 Dan Quayle look like '08 Joe Biden. Has the whole world gone crazy?

8. With her on the ticket, any liberal think of voting for Nader should have their head examined.
