Republicans humiliate Bush and Cheney
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 10:49 AM by Onlooker
I think it's incredible that Bush won't participate in the Republican convention. Even Clinton, in the wake of the Lewinsky scandal, spoke during primetime in 2000. I could understand if Bush didn't show up on Monday, given the hurricane, but the Republican Convention will still have 3 days left after that.

Given that Bush, astonishingly, still commands 30% approval ratings, I think the Obama campaign should make a bigger deal of this. Wouldn't it be a good way to divide the Republican base?

At any rate, Bush and Cheney certainly deserve the degrading and humiliating treatment of being discouraged from even showing up at the Convention to the Party that Bush still heads.

1. Louisiana is probably within 2 hours of Minnesota via Air Force One.
Bush could tour Lousiana today and have plenty of time to get to Minnesota if he really wanted to.

The Grandstander now tastes Humility and defeat through exposure of his shortcomings...

4. Not only that
They could at least have him and Cheney speak by video link.

5. But to be fair, a Republican Convention is far removed from America.
It's about forty years behind, for one thing--too far for the president to risk traveling with a potential national emergency brewing.

3. If Bush and Cheney were the de facto leaders of your political party
(I know, shudder) would YOU want them speaking at the convention just before an election?

I just saw on MSNBC that Ah-nold isn't speaking at the convention "because of the on-going budget crisis in his state." Now THAT'S a lame excuse if I ever heard one!

6. If * and Cheney were leaders of MY party...
...I wouldn't be holding a convention at all. I'd be in hiding, or entering a monastery. Or boarding a plane with a suitcase full of money.

But I agree with you. The stench of fail will be pervasive even without the presence of the AssClown-in-Chief and President Cheney.
