IMO, leave the daughter alone
unless you think McCain and Rush were justified picking on the Clintons' then-minor daughter

So, Sarah. How's abstinence only sex education working for ya?

Now if Palin wasn't so stubborn on "abstinence only" sex ed, Bristol might have taking steps to prevent this. But that's not hypocrisy on anybody's part.

11. They need to own their failures
On economic policy and social policy. I live in small town America. Every one of these self-righteous fundies who criticized my parenting over the years - and had their own daughters pregnant - Sarah Palin is just one more. They're wrong and they need to take ownership of their mistakes, all of them.

16. Again...
I don't think Obama or Biden should comment, unless it is to congratulate the happy parents, but that doesn't stop us and the Liberal 527s from making an issue of it. And, while I do agree with other threads that say this won't alienate fundies, it will upset some of them and will seem hypocritical to many swing voters.

33. exactly
I hope this gets massive play on blogs etc. but I think it would be a *bad* thing for Obama campaign to comment on. Any comment should be no more than something like "we wish the best for their family and respect the privacy of this issue".

I don't even think the 527's should touch it.
Let the noise from the blogs generate MSM stories, if they can.

32. I actually think her decision to have the baby is admirable
One of the things that bug me most about the anti-abortion brigade is that, so often, they're willing to break the rules when it's THEIR little girl who's pregnant. No abortions for other people's kids, just theirs, because their kids are special. And then they're back on the picket lines the next week.

At least this family is walking the walk. If she'd had an abortion, THEN there'd be a story. But this is just one of those things that happen to families (especially families who don't believe in anything other than abstinence-only sex education) all over the country every single day.

38. It's not the daughter, it's the Abstenance only sex education attitude of the Mother and her buddies
that is the problem, and that is absolutely fair game.

Had Chelsea gotten pregnant after her parents were running around trumpeting the virtues of birth control, she certainly would have been fair game.

But the fact is that Abstenance only sex education doesn't work. Contraceptives do.

It speaks volumes for Palin family values and the lack of choice her daughter would have if mom's anti-choice views became law.

Having said that, though, I would rather have the RepubliCons air their own dirty laundry.
