story is the real winner here, IMHO. As a mother, I was flabbergasted. I've told the story to friends, family, colleagues and neighbors of all political persuasions and every one of them was flabbergasted. The first question most of the women asked me is "this was what kid? Number FIVE?!!?? What was she THINKING!!"

This story is clearly documented more than once in the hometown paper, Anchorage Daily News. It was controversial in home state Alaska when first printed.

Palin and McCain can try to put on a cutesy happy face when asked about it (and they WILL be asked if we do our job right) but they will end up backtracking, looking foolish, and bringing even more attention to what was obviously a huge lapse of judgment on the part of a woman who damn well should know better.

For most of us, wasn't it this bizarre tale of labor and delivery that got our antennas up in the first place? We have to remember that the vast majority of voters aren't junkies like we are and they haven't heard about this yet. When they do, believe me, many of them will ask the same kinds of questions that occurred to us.

IF any of the other babygate rumors are true, this insane decision to fly hours leaking amniotic fluid is step one to getting to that story. It is a legitimate thread for the media, bloggers, and yes, us, to start with.

My two, for what they're worth.

On Edit: Wow. That was quick. Babygate rumor solved. Which makes the flying on the plane story true and criminally irresponsible.

so we can end the questions.

Although a women that would risk her newborn by taking a plane after her water broke shows she has poor judgment. If you are still a month out from your due date and your water breaks you get your butt to the nearest hospital. If your water breaks and it's right on time you don't endanger your soon to be born by getting on a germ infested plane - once the amniotic sac breaks it is susceptible to germs.

Edit:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26496189/ Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father,

2. Thank you! Mothers need to come out and explain what happens when the water breaks....
... I'm guessing Palin thought women wouldn't find out she was trying to fool everyone about taking 8 hours of flight with her allegedly start of labor. Just the fact that she didn't think women would be shocked at the lie is shocking to me. When your water breaks, you board 8 hours of plane and put a giant Hefty bag on the seat? Republicans really did it this time!
