Quite frankly this isn't going to sink any McSame/Fundie ticket. My wife came from a fundie household. No they were not happy about it but she didn't abort and all has been well.

ISSUES ISSUES and ISSUES is what we need to focus on.

21. Garner relevance?
Not sure what you mean. I like what the OP said - that many fundies will not like the fact that Palin didn't teach her daughter "abstinence only."

7. If we hadn't blown our wad on the "switcheroo" story
I'd agree that there is a case to be made here for hypocrisy.

5. This is not about the daughter.. you miss the point
Did your wifes parents then expose her to the national and international press? This is about the lack of decision making on the part of the republican ticket.

12. But Sarah Palin is not just any fundie
She has been held up as a shining example of Christian Motherhood. She has now made a mockery of them. They won't be forgiving her.

16. Fundamentalists have few choices when it comes to their belief system
and a pregnant teenaged daughter.

1) Disown the girl and kick her out.
2) Push her to give the baby up for adoption
3) Accept the pregnancy and go on with life.

Many more people in this nation in these types of families go with option 3 than you would care to believe. There is gossip and backbiting in the church usually and some churches may expel the family to keep the closed belief system intact and not to have a bad example present in the congregation for younger children. Some congregations forgive and support the teen in question.

In some ways, this is not an issue but a sad family problem in a family that manipulates morality for others. In other ways, it is a problem because this is a family that would manipulate morality for others. Regardless of how you feel, Bristol does not deserve the horrible public humiliation her mother's dishonesty has added to her problems.

22. Was your wife's mommy
a politician running for the second higest office in the land on a platform of abstinance and Christian dogam? Did her mom organize openly against others based on her claimed moral superiority? Do your really expect that a fake should be allowed to be a fake and continue to spew vitriol against others based on 'values' they themselves do not live by?
My guess is your wife's mom had read those verses about dealing with the plank in your own eye before bitching about the speck in someone else's eye, and did not run around pointing fingers at other families for 'sexual sin' after the wife got preggers.
I just don't see how your wife's first child has anything to do with the Republican candidate for Vice President's family or her so called values.
