Discussion of the baby mysteries is about RW hypocrisy and Palin's poor judgment.
Both are important issues. If Palin was pro-family and if the abstinence only policy worked, we would not be discussing this at all. As it is, that family is a very high profile example of the fact that RWers love to tell us what to do with OUR families, yet they don't run their OWN families any better than anyone else. And maybe even worse.

So I feel for Bristol as I would for any other teenager who got pregnant. I feel for her child because the statistics are not good for children born to teenage mothers. The poor girl has been taught that abstinence is the way to go. Yet, like any other teenager, hormones and the heat of the moment were too much for her and the boy to overcome. What would have happened if they had been taught about birth control and responsibility instead of the standard fundy line of "sex before marriage is evil?" Would they have been prepared? I think so.

And about Palin herself flying from Texas to Alaska after her water broke, well that was irresponsible, too. It was reckless endangerment of the life of her child. And that is hypocrisy in its finest form, considering she claims to be prolife.
