Palin on God in Pledge: "Good enough for founding fathers!"
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 01:33 PM by seasat
I saw this on the front page of Daily Kos. Here's the excerpt from a 2006 questionnaire she filled on in the Governor's race.

Q: Are you offended by the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?

PALIN: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

From the Kos post they noted that the pledge was first written in 1892, wasn't official until 1942, and "under God" wasn't added until 1954.

I'm sure this has been posted before but it deserves to be posted again.

7. I think this is more damning than the pregnancy broo-haha.
It's one thing to be inexperienced but to be ignorant of history that should have been learned in grade school? If she writes stuff like this, imagine the stuff she's going to let slip out in an interview or debate.

The pledge was written by a socialist, and it didn't have the stupid under GAWD clause.

14. Reminds me of words attributed to the
late, great Jesse Helms:

"If English was good enough for Jesus, it ought to be good enough for the rest of us!"
