Oy: Palin’s daughter is pregnant; Update: Evangelicals rally to Palin? Update: Althouse on Palin vs. Edwards; Update: Dobson defends Palin

Typical hypocrisy.

Some Democrats will say lay off, a point Hilzoy makes here, but concedes:

As far as I'm concerned, it's fair game to consider Sarah Palin's statements about her daughter's decision, and to compare them to her own views about abortion. That's a story about whether or not Sarah Palin sticks to her beliefs when they affect her own family, not about her daughter.

1. Wont hurt him with hard core fundies. She was already a lipstick, high heel
short skirt wearing woman. They wouldn't like her already.

The more conservative religious, but less hard core base, will be intreresting to watch though.

2. The McCain Campaign is clearly out of control
They can't control their own message
and their convention has collapsed.
McCain's leadership stinks.

3. Rove just said that if Dems harp on this, it shows we're "out of touch"
because this is something that happens in many American families.... Oh... really Rove? Yet your side wants to intrude on that process and tell women what do do with their own bodies!

5. It's funny that they're bringing up Edwards, as if
there was any hypocrisy on the Democrats' side on his news. Also, what does Edwards, who is infinitely more qualified to be President than Palin, have to do with the obvious GOP hypocrisy on teen pregnancy, abstinence, sex education?

4. Hmm, I this pregnancy is a deflection from the possible REAL story.
The daughter will conveniently miscarry (in the news) in the next month.

7. putting on tinfoil hat: first thing I thought when I read
that the daughter was "about 5 months pregnant"

either she will miscarry or this will be an 11 month baby.

6. " GOP officials are supposedly a bit stunned"
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 02:19 PM by ProSense
Can This Get Any Weirder?:

All I can say is that this campaign has gotten truly bizarre. Is there any modern precedent for this? GOP officials are supposedly a bit stunned at the Bristol pregnancy. Does this factor in to a “family values” campaign in some way? As a decidedly non-family-values voter I have no idea how to calculate it.

8. In '06 it was MARK FOLEY. In '08 it's BABYGATE.
Repub sex stories neutralize their "family values" platform.

When that happens voters realize that they have nothing else going for them.
