DOBSON PRAISES PALINS: "not just talking... their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them"
Remind me how this story is helping us, exactly?

Dobson on Bristol Palin's Pregnancy

September 01, 2008 1:52 PM

Dr. James C. Dobson of Focus on the Family issued the following statement:

"In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.

"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have.

"The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans."

1. We need Dobson out there

We need him on the TV 24/7...just give him an open mic and stand back. That would gurantee the election.

5. Oh yeah? Palin fired the police chief for trying to close the bars at 2 am!
She insisted on keeping the bars in Wasila open all night long. Read this for more on Palin's values!

9. Women are nothing more than baby makers to Dobson. Teen mothers
are poorer, end up with less education, and generally have a helluva' time
raising a baby when they are nothing more than children themselves.

So you keep prayin' Dobbie, and I'll keep supporting sex education.

10. Well what the hell else is he suppose to say? Did we not expect this?
Of COURSE the right wing evangelical base is going to defend her.. what other choice do they have? They can't exactly say.. "Well, this is despicable, we need to abandon abstenance only programs and ohh.. by the way, vote for Obama now".

We KNEW they would defend her no matter what - they have no other choice. The true test will be to see what the folks in the middle think.. they're the ones who can move over to the liberal side.

Conservatives stay conservative.. Liberals stay liberal.. Independants in the middle are the ones who actually are swayed. We'll see if this issue or the thought process behind the McCain camp moves this issue at all.

11. BULLSHIT.
He told his followers to PRAY for "rain of biblical proportions" in order to disrupt Obama's acceptance speech.

Matthew 7:5

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

12. All it means is that they proudly tote a form of education PROVEN in their own family to not work.
Namely that of "abstinence-only." Maybe Sarah should have hit her daughter over the head with the point a few more times. Maybe that would've kept Bristol's pants around her waist. Or maybe Sarah and all the other anti-birth-control nuts should get with the 21st century picture, namely that no matter how many sky-daddies you threaten teenagers with, the majority of them are STILL going to sexually experiment, be it with kissing or with full-on vaginal sex. God and distant threats of eternal damnation have little sway over hormones in play for the first time in someone's life, and no amount of harping on "morals" can stop that--it couldn't back in the Middle Ages, and it sure as hell can't now.

14. my parents were both ministers and I screwed
like it was going out of style in high school. granted I knew enough about birth control to insist on condoms every time. and yeah, threats about stuff 70 years away don't do much LOL.

17. They don't live up to their preaching to others.
Sarah's own first child was born about 8 months into her marriage. (She eloped, surprising her family.)

13. Hmmm...is it a Christian value to work hard to try to hide the fact that
your child is pregnant, so that you can pursue your political career? I firmly believe she would never have admited this if it hadn't been out in the blogosphere.

15. And You're In My Prayers, Dr. Dobson

May God forgive you for being such a miserable Republican fuck toy.

(And a big "Thankee Kindly" to God, for not approving of Dobson's prayer that Obama's stadium speech be rained out; the weather was perfect. Catch a clue, Dr. Jim......)

18. So now teenage premarital fucking is OK with Dobson?
As long as you don't kill the baby, and it's not two boys or two girls, of course. And as long as it's a Republican family.

Nice going, Reverend Hypocrite. Why don't you go back to beating up your dog, and taking showers with little boys to "prevent them from turning gay".

19. Mr. Dobson, exactly how many unwed pregnant teenage daughters do I need..
to be a good Christian father? Is one enough, or should I have several of them humping like bunny rabbits in the back yard? Just wondering what kind of bazaar Christian world your coming from.

20. Lieing about adult oral sex is impeachable, but knocking up 17 year olds is ok?
Lieing about adult oral sex is impeachable, but knocking up 17 year olds is ok?

The issue is not the 17 year old, but the hypocrisy of the politician mother.

Abstinence only education begins at home.
Attacking contraception leads to shotgun teenage weddings.
Parental neglect is more of a problem than immoral media.
Family values include telling the truth.

which apparently they won't.
