Digby Has The TRUTH: Palin Was Vetted - By A Religious Nutbag Group!!!
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 02:07 PM by BlooInBloo
http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/yes-sarah-palin-was-vetted-by-dday-it.html

Basically, McPOW, McMaverick, McHisOwnFuckingMan, simply gave his VP choice to Dobson. What a small wuss of a man.

It certainly doesn't seem like it, given the stories that have emerged within the past 48-72 hours. Put she most certainly was vetted, only not be the McCain campaign. She was vetted by the only group that matters - the super-secretive Council for National Policy....

Minnery added that his boss, Dobson, has yearned for a conservative female leader like Margaret Thatcher to emerge on the American scene. And while Palin is no Thatcher, "she has not rejected the feminine side of who she is, so for that reason, she will be attractive to conservative voters."

The members of the Council for National Policy are the hidden hand behind McCain's Palin pick. With her selection, the Republican nominee is suddenly -- and unexpectedly -- assured of the support of a movement that once opposed his candidacy with all its might. Case in point: while Dobson once said he could "never" vote for McCain, he issued a statement last week hailing Palin as an "outstanding" choice. If Dobson's enthusiasm for Palin is any indication, he may soon emerge from his bunker in Colorado Springs to endorse McCain, providing the Republican nominee with the grassroots support of the Christian right's single most influential figure.

...

That's all this was about. Forget the press reports grasping at straws trying to figure out this pick, whether it represents a new reform message or was targeted to exurban voters. This was a wet kiss to the religious right. There was only one group doing the vetting. The theocons were waiting for a signal to start up the phone banks and the ground work and now they have it. They probably would have done so anyway, but this was the tipping point.

...

Oh, she was vetted all right. By the religious right. The question is whether or not Palin's extreme, radical philosophy is distasteful to the wide swath of Americans. In a sane world, the support for creationism and questioning of man-made global warming and rejection of birth control would indeed be disqualifying.

...What this also means is that she was totally forced on John McCain, which must call into question his erratic, shoddy judgment, and his ability to carry out anything but the most extreme agenda.

EDIT: Typo.

I'm willing to bet. Thanks to the so-called free press that also enjoys pretending the CNP doesn't exist

18. GOP, BC
Batsh*t Crazy. Well, they never say die(unless it means someone else does the dying) so I will endeavor to persevere giving a nefarious Dark Empire scenario to this otherworldly rationale.

I was somewhat too mild and logical in my constant presentation of Romney as a stalking horse for Jeb once a President McCain tragically dies in office. Not enough votes for the election, stupid! They gave up votes for theater and the big throw of the loaded dice to cement the loony base and smother the legitimate election in shock and distraction.

The goal? Here it comes, my tinfoil, discredited judgment predicts:

McCain dies in office. Palin is so vulnerable to DC moves she will be a forever puppet, but just as likely:

She will be set up to be removed from office under that little amendment that provides for someone with the dangerous incompetence and mental mania that would have America sighing in relief that:

VP Jeb Bush reluctantly(thrice offered the crown, thrice refused) assumes the "temporary" role of POTUS. probably appointing some equally BC Veep to placate the Religious Right and protect his rear.

Someone likely sold McCain the idea that Palin would be his own life insurance policy and direct line to the loony base. His demeanor ever since could be betraying a weary, instinctive appointer's remorse.

Nothing too BC for the Regime.

Two words: Congressional succession.

If - IF - McCain and Palin got into office and one McCain died, the order of succession would be done according to the constitution. And if McCain dies and Palin is out, who becomes president?

The Speaker Of the House. President Nancy Pelosi.

19. First McCain chose Sarah Palin. Then James Dobson etc.
...watched Palin give her debut speech as the presumptive nominee on TV.

Dobson is allowed to watch TV.

The headline "The Council For National Policy Meets In Minn, Vets Palin
By Max Blumenthal" is misleading.

Dobson didn't "vet" her until after the announcement that she would be the VP nominee.
