So... you're saying I could never be VP....eh???
What with my daughter being born when I was 19 and yet me not looking pregnant until just before delivery. What with my widow status and "all the questions" that would bring up...

Ah well, good to know.

1. Not if you ran as a socially conservative repubican..
for the record you're probably just as qualified as Palin is though.

2. Wow, straw man city. Most of us think she's blatantly unqualified, and a liar to boot.

3. Do you believe in abstinece only education?
and would you cut funding to schools if they didn't offer only abstinece only sex ed?

If so yes. IMHO you should not be VP, President, or on a school board.

4. I don't think that's the issue. It's the lies and the hypocrisy.
No one should pass judgement on anyones background and circumstances. However, if Palin was a Democrat, you can be certain that she wouldn't be handled with kid gloves.

5. Strawman argument. Shame on you!
The issue is Sarah Palin. BTW, I don't believe for one minute that Bristol decided to keep the baby. That decision was made by her mother, who once told the press that she would oppose abortion if her daughter was raped.

6. At what point did this become about you?
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 03:53 PM by LibraLiz1973
First, you were 19. That means you were legally an adult. Did your mother campaign against any form of sex education?
At NINETEEN you did not look pregnant. Um, at 44, after having 4 other children, I bet you would have.
Also, What does your being a widow have to do with it? No one here brought that up. You did.

I'll be blunt. NO, you probably could never be VP. #1, because you are a Democrat. The Republicans would eat you alive for having a child at 19. Also, you have health problems and they would fall all over that.

I could never be VP either, for a myriad of reasons.

Still, the difference between you and I & Sarah Palin, is that even though she is grossly under-qualified, she was still the pick.

Her stance on sex education and how it affects her own family IS an issue and SHOULD be discussed.

No doubt Bristol's baby will be a blessing beyond measure. But the truth is that maintaining an ABSTINENCE ONLY policy is dangerous and WRONG... as
can be shown by her own teenage daughter. Her teen daughter who she is encouraging to get married. The lack of any real parenting there is staggering.
Odds of Bristol & baby daddy being together in 5 years? Not very good at all.

Sarah's lack of intelligent thought and care for her family has led to a very difficult situation for all involved.
Including the poor baby daddy, who I feel sorry for. His poor family probably had NO idea this shit show was about
to start & now they are going to be fodder for gossip rags.

Ah well, at least Sarah gets her day in the sun, which is all she really cares about.

I understand your wanting to defend young mothers~ I have my own. She was 18 when I was born & she is my hero. But this isn't really ABOUT Bristol.
This is about the ridiculous stances of her mother.

I know you are hurt and angry about life, and I do understand and wish you only the absolute best that life can bring from here on out.
But it is hardly fair to compare your situation with what is happening here.

8. Er, no, that is not the problem.
The problem is that Palin wants to force my kids to get abstinence misinformation instead of sex education, the problem is that Palin is proud of her daughter's choice to have this child but wants to deny the rest of our daughters the same right to make that choice, the problem is that Palin chose to expose her daughter to the media onslaught at this time so she could advance her political career, the problem is that Gramps has made a singularly unqualified and inappropriate choice for a running mate and that calls into question, once again, the quality of his decision making apparatus.
