I suspect they are freaking now trying to figure out what to do next.

Time to move on to legitimate issues.

12. The hypocrisy of Sarah Palin is not a legitemate issue?
The fact that she is running on her parenting skills while preaching all of the James Dobson, abstinence only family values bullshit while her underage Daughter is pregnant is an issue. If she didn't want to make family values an issue maybe she shouldn't have ran with family values as her platform.

16. You don't need to shut up just focus on real legitimate issues.
Here are a few to get you started:

-- abuse of power/troopergate
-- failed mayor/20M in debt
-- bridge to nowhere
-- connections to Ted Stevens' 527 organization
-- member of a radical political party that wants Alaska succession
-- wolf bounty and aerial hunting

30. Obama does not want this campaign to turn into mudslinging at the families.
Remember the awful stuff they were saying about Michelle. That seems to have calmed down a bit. I suspect Obama and McCain have made some sort of private agreement to try to squelch the family attack stuff. Lets respect that.

I am a new member here but one thing that is disturbing is that so many DU folks are quick to attack each other. We are supposed to be on the same side -- right?? Surely we can disagree without claiming the other person is a Republican. I know there may be some here but I think we should give each other the benefit of the doubt.

27. I applaud Senator Obama's viewpoint.... but
His family is perfect in every way and the Republican Party's Vice Presidential nominee's family is in crisis. Even Governor Palin's own spokesperson doesn't know what is going on. I think 48 more hours of the family stuff then we drop the policy issue stuff on her.

42. Hint from an ex- CR who is well trained in flinging crap by the masters:
When you have this much, you fling it all at once, not in sequence. When you fling it all at once you overwhelm. When you parcel it out, you take away from the totality of its impact.

While I don't care much one way or another about Bristol being pregnant (it doesn't carry a big political kick, though it does contribute to the WTF? factor regarding Palin's selection -- my big concern is that it will become the only "scandal" the media cares to look at, in which case McCain/Palin get off scot-free), I do think the question of what was going on with that plane flight after the water broke has some merit, and the AIP story is just priceless. But the whole pile sould be pushed at once.

One qualification: if we were the campaign, and we found something really precious, like corruption amounting to a felony, I'd hold it back for about three days, and release it just as the initial pile was fading from the news. But we're not the campaign, and anything we find is, perforce, released to the public, so that tactic won't work for us.

28. Of course he said that. Doesn't matter. We have our part to do.
The candidate and campaign can never come near the hot topics until the story has completely blown up. That doesn't mean to abandon them.

You and others who are timid souls should go back now, and leave the hardnose opposition work to those who have the stomach for it.

35. I have been slamming Palin on WashingtonPost much of today on this issue but..
when I read what Obama said on this about famalies being off limits it hit me as one of the reasons why I support this guy. You need to get over the attack-mode and focus on what we are really fighting for. This is not about tearing down the opponent but more like converting the opponent.

40. If all the media can bring it up, then why not us?
I'm sure if I really dig, I could find some examples of DUers being disrespectful towards Palin's family, but by and large, people are bringing up completely legitimate issues. Hell the news media is all over it (thanks in part to lefty blogs), and from what I've seen, this "bombshell" isn't spinning well for McCain/Palin.

If she can't stand the heat, she shoulda stayed the fuck out the kitchen. The "family values" crowd loves Palin and her family; if we can knock her down a few rungs by simply exposing the facts, I'm sure 17yr old Bristol will be fine.
