The age of consent, as it is called, varies from 18 to 16 to even 14 in a couple of states, as I recall.

Some states, though, will prosecute BOTH parties if both are underage.

(In AK, the age of consent is 16, and most of the laws refer to a three-year age difference, so this is moot.)

I don't know of any state (but I could be wrong) which says it is rape if there is less than a 2 year age difference. Doesn't the statutory rape law go both ways, regarding gender??
