how can the Dems confront the TV whore convention bias?
Off the top of my head I can only think of one way which will never happen in a million years:

Terry McAulliffe: "You know, Judy, on tuesday night during our convention you had Ed Gillepie, Pat Buchanan, Bob Dole, and one Democrat. Today you have x,y,z, and me. I know it takes at least three republicans to muddy up the truth, but it certainly is against anything I've ever heard about fair journalism, I'm curious, and I think all the democrats and independents watching your show deserve to know why you're being so biased."

Not a phone call, not an e-mail, every surrogate, on the air, starting tomorrow (especially) tomorrow.

I know the deary-me crowd will say that we'll sound like whiners, that we won't get booked, that the coverage will become more biased, but I'm not so sure. If our surrogates sound good naturedly angry--not whiny--and, more importantly, if they're armed with short, sweet accurate lists of guests, I think they will score points with the base and just maybe shame a couple of the hoes into balancing the panels--If they do this bit on every show tomorrow.

Sadly, I bet many of our surrogates are so honored that Chris Matthews has given them the opportunity to hear their own voices that we'll just have to smile and grab our ankles like he good little dems we are. An incumbent with a late convention bounce doesn't make our job any easier, but, hey, at least Biden will be lookin' good.

4. I think they should cover their party the same way they covered ours
and most voters will not be watching c-span.

5. Might
ask the Dems who voted for the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Would they vote for it again? Did they support subsequent allied issues? Would they have taken Michael Powell to task without the hundreds of thousands of e-mails recently?

Did they ever think they would be closed out like a poor cousin at the familyu picnic?

6. Classic Green response
The best way to get chimp out of office is to......attck Dems!!! And here I was getting all impressed with the Greens' growing political acumen.

Having worked on stuff related to that act back in '95, I've read the whole thing, I think. I'm trying hard to remember a provision that requires Wold Blitzer to say "Looks, like this is going to be a great convention" to his panel of Judy Woodruf and Bob Dole; and come to think of it, I really can't think of a provision in the old law that would have stopped him from doing it.

The crime of the dems in the world we're living in now will be to do nothing, nothing at all, to fight back against the media's four day infomercial at the RNC. Will this media lovefest create a bump for chimp? Will the media, emboldened by lack of a Dem on-air challenge, ramp up the whoring during their debate coverage, making it very hard to close that gap? Time will tell.

9. If you worked
on related items and issues, then you are also aware of the consolidation of media in larger and larger blocs controlled by fewer and fewer people or organizations.

This was not an attack on the dems per se. It is a simple observation on the process released as a result of the Tel. Act of 96. This is reality. I am not suggesting it was written for Wolfie or anyone else personally. The process that has resulted from the law is what has you saying what you are saying. Control of the national level media has devolved into corporate hands that desire to limit media discussion, eliminating all "dissident" views including those of the DP. But please remember this act had DP support in Congress and the signature of Dem Pres helped make the law reality.

And the comment from you that this is a classic Green response is correct. It is corporatism, period.

7. Update: 15-2 Rethugs v. Dems on CNN and MSNBC since 6:00
Are the Dems going to let this pass when one of them finally makes it on the air?

8. Of Course They Are...
lest it become 17-0. They are cowards, the lot of them. The ones who are on play straight-man to the Pug attack machine better than Ed McMahon. EVEN RON REAGAN JR.! If it keeps up we may only have the debates to save us. Sorry but thats what I am seeing and it's early.

10. It's not just TV. CNN.COM is also whoring..
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 07:58 PM by NeoConsSuck
during the DNC, there was always the repuke response posted on their front page. No such Dem rebuttal tonight, and don't expect a rebuttal for the entire convention to be visible on CNN.COM

And since CNN.COM needs to show that the patriotic Repukes are nothing like the Democrat commie traitors, what better way to do it than to have this on their CNN home page:

-edited link.
