C-SPAN has today's Buxh speech on
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 08:45 PM by JohnnyRingo
There's a steelworker introducing him...called himself a democrat.
They're wearing "Steelworkers For Bush" shirts!

He must have cut Wheeling a HELL of a deal, or it's temporary insanity.

He ended the steel tariffs !! WTF !!

1. How many men are wearing those shirts?
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 08:48 PM by aquart
Do any of them speak English? Were they brought in from wherever our steel industry relocated to?

This, according to my sufficiently bitter sister, is one of Ronald Reagan's great sins....allowing our steel and tool and die industries to offshore.

5. The guy behind him looks like Dale Earnhardt...
And there's more of them than i care to see at a repub speech.
I retired after 30 years from a union job, I don't understand the support he's getting in Wheeling.....They must feel he somehow saved their plant from a closing (?)

Next week at a fundraiser, he'll probably call for an end to their union in a speech to company fatcats.

AHHHHH...Now they're all screaming for tort reform ! It IS temporary insanity!

2. More "Chickens for Colonel Sanders"
It makes me sick when these scumbags have the nerve to call themselves Democrats. No Democrat would support Bush* for any reason.

3. I haven't sat and watched this dope in a while - he is a freaking maniac
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 09:01 PM by nu_duer
He's cracking bad jokes like an arrogant drunk, and the crowd goes wild.

He talks to them like they're even more moronic than he is, and they lap it up and scream wildly.

Scary thing to watch.

6. Steel Workers endorsed Kerry
These are some rogue element of that Union, not the leadership.

Their President is Leo Gerard, and he hates Bush.

I know, because I spoke to him at the Mass. AFL-CIO convention on Oct. 2nd or 3rd, 2003.

8. Karl Rove get's credit here
He must have had Buxh do them a favor a few months ago....I remember him giving a speech there recently.

Still, he stopped the tarrifs...and now steel is in shortage here in the "rust belt" causing layoffs among the smaller manufacturing plants.

7. WaPost says the guy was booed!
His campaign underscored its new outreach effort by having Bush introduced by a Democrat, steelworker and shop steward Rick Casini, who called Bush the "original promise keeper, the man who saved steel" by imposing tariffs on imports for 20 months.

The steelworker was booed when he began by saying, "My name is Rick Casini and I'm a Democrat."

The mics from CSPAN were'nt near any booos.
I'd have to listen again, though. I was in a state of mouth open shock at the time.

...Now he's on Saddam....parts of the same speech he gave a year and a half ago. Maybe he was boooo'd

11. A f**king shop steward
are you kidding me. Shop Stewards are appointed by the President of the local. I'll bet his ass is canned within a week.

In my local (IBEW) I appoint the shop stewards and they serve at my direction. If one even so much as says Bush makes sense, I'd get rid of him or her.

How can a Union officer at any level be for Bush? It's like 1931 Germany being a Jew for Hitler.

Before anyone thinks that firing a Union Officer who is for Bush is undemocratic, it would be just like an officer siding with management in a dispute against workers. If he did that, you can't represent the workers.

You don't lose your job at the plant, that would be unfair, but you have no right to speak in behalf of the workers contrary to the position of the person they have elected.

13. I listened to the terror/freedom part-Bush is STILL LYING about
the item that Tweety told the Repugs to cut out lying about on his program-that Kerry is the anti-war candidate.

Sheesh, we wouldn't have so many arguments about Kerry the candidate if he WAS the anti-war candidate.
