How anybody could use horrific acts of violence for sheer political gain is beyond disgusting. How anybody could reduce the thousands that died to props and excuses for hatred is pathetic. How anybody could clap for jingoism and allowing ourselves to become as fueled by hatred as those that oppose us is disgraceful.

How my country could forget that George Bush's failures allowed 9/11 to happen is unforgivable.

I am disgusted at myself. I joked with some friends about it. We laughed about nuking the "sand niggers" back to the stone age. I eviscerated Gore, and praised Bush for providing strong leadership. Myself from 7 years ago is disgusting. Whenever I think about that event now, the images of desperate men and women leaping hundreds of feet to their death haunts me. We allowed, I allowed, our country to become incoherently enraged at anybody to blame. The terrorists won. They destroyed our democracy, not with their destruction of buildings, but with the eradication of our will, our resilience, our dedication to freedom. What we have done in the aftermath of that day far surpasses. God... what have we become?
