Anyways, I doubt that. He's going to get a small, small, small bounce... and Dems are going to rip him to shreds for NOT saying anything.

25. Divorce from a party that chooses your VP, with the same fundies.
We're in for a dogfight, if they succeed in turning around our momentum. I hope that we have ads planned with all the sane, wonderful people who support us and don't want a gambler in control of the bombs.

I worry that with the need for Sarah to become pres. for that crowd, we are in for terrible times if they succeed.

Gotta kiss ass !

Or he was chided by colleagues for being so moved after Obama's speech that he pushed to be complimentary to this one.

... and that McCain may have done what he needed to do to win in November.

(Please remember that Tweety is an idiot.)

Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 10:21 PM by RollWithIt
One week he knows Democrats are watching so he says all these nice things about Democrats, then the following week he knows mostly Republicans are watching so he panders to them.

28. Dow drop had nothing to do with Palin
and suggesting it does is a stupid idea. Go back and check some of the other dates on which the Dow dropped even more and you'll see why this is not a place we should be going.

31. The market's continual fall is a direct consequence of the monetary policie endorsed by this admin.
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 10:31 PM by EndElectoral
Pallin means more of the same. And while the DOW fell today becasue of a drop in the job market and retail sales figurees, the fiscal polcies embraced by Pallin and McCain are more of the same.

Sorry. There is a relationship.

35. Not ergo. The market went down today because of bad jobs report.
That bad jobs report was the product of bad policies from chimpy and gang. The market would've gone down just as much if Palin hadn't spoken (and it wouldn't have gone down as much if the jobs report wasn't bad).

The repub ticket's economic policy -- well, I can't say that because as best I can tell they don't really have one -- will not improve conditions and in response to those conditions the market will continue to stagnate and/or fall. But it will be in response to results, not speeches. (Just as the biggest drop in the market occurred because of bad economic news, not because, as it turned out, Clinton announced the night before that she was throwing in the towel and Obama was set as the nominee).

The problem with linking the market to things like a speech by Palin is that if/when the market rallies on some momentary good news, it then makes it possible for someone to argue that the market is responding not to that news, but to something that is in fact not directly responsible for the markets movements.

36. How the heck do you know why the DOW went down today
that's the funniest thing about 1 day reactionary reports of wow the DOW is dropping. The day to day fluctuation of the stock market are pretty much white noise. Only people make lots of money pretending to "read" the day to day and even in day movements and trying to link meaning to them. So frankly if the "experts" can make up crap about why the DOW moves during such a brief time span there is no doubt DUers can to. All and all I feel fiscal conservatives just saw their party elect yet another snarky, ill tempered religious nut job that's a total light weight on the economy and over reacted to short term market trends.

30. Let's just wait until next week and see for ourselves what the polls say.
But IMO we won't really know the true state of the race until after the debates are held.
