Joe Biden: McCain's Speech
Joe Biden: McCain's Speech
from Obama HQ by Christopher Hass

Joe Biden just sent out the following email, in response to John McCain's acceptance speech . . .

John McCain just accepted the Republican nomination and adopted the most conservative platform in the history of his party.

After days of negative attacks -- and no mention of real proposals to fix our economy, get more people health care, or make America safer -- the party that brought you eight years of disastrous policies is asking for four more.

Well, not if we have anything to say about it.

Across this nation, people like you have joined this movement because you believe that we are better than the past eight years. And now that we are entering the final stretch, it's going to take all of us to bring the change we need.

Will you make a donation at this crucial moment to change our country?

After the last eight years, it's up to you to keep America's promise alive.

How can John McCain pull us out of the deep hole we're in when he voted with George Bush more than 90% of the time?

The American people deserve more than a 10% chance at change.

No matter what McCain says, we can't bring about change by relying on the same ideas that have failed us for the last eight years.

Show the McCain campaign that people coming together, giving what they can afford, and working toward a common purpose will transform this country.

Change begins with you. Please make a donation now.

Thanks for everything you're doing,

Joe

4. Did a text search of John McCain's speech. Its not just vague. Issues are non-existent.
I have to say, I listed to most of McCain's speech, but could not take it. That was a poor speech, particularly after three straight days of attacks without solutions. So, to save myself from clawing at my ears, I just lifted the text to try to look at the things that I found important. I assumed that 9/11 and Iraq would be discussed. So, I looked at the other things that really have not been discussed:

George Bush - Zero...Zero? McCain/Palin want to change things, yet there is not a single mention of George Bush? Shoot, then what exactly is being chamged? Oh well, lets continue.

Middle class - Zero.

Environment - Zero.

Global Warming - Zero.

Social security - Zero.

Deficit or debt - Zero.

Infrastructure - Zero.

Elderly - Zero.

Poor or poverty - One mention. His wife cares for people in poverty.

Health care - Three references, but no description of what it is, rather its just better than Obama's.

Mortgages - Two mentions, but no proposal, just a reference that he will fight corruption, since he knows Americans are struggling with mortgage payments. Huh?

College - One reference, but to community college?

Veterans - Zero...What? McCain is a former POW, and not a single shout to veterans, let alone veteran benefits?

Education - Four references made, but in reference to vouchers.

So, I guess by promising nothing, John McCain is sure to deliver just that!

7. Wait..didn't you see that he acknowledged the Vietnam Vets
and had them stand up in the audiance? :sarcasm:

It was really sad actually because it was so transparant.

McCain hasn't done shit for Vietnam veterans or any other Vets...

9. Shoot, maybe he ad-libbed that shout out! He's so spontaneous!
Just going off of the official text. I listed to about half of the speech, but the three sentence *clap * routine was grating.

6. I like the TDS take on the Republican theme.
"Please give us just one more chance, we promise we won't fuck up this time."
