27. Oh yeah. I know a lot of teachers who are on the fence
and this will get them RIGHT off that fence and on the Obama side, for sure.

I mean I don't like bad teachers myself. But "I'm going to put them out on the streets????" WTF? So they aren't worthy of even holding down a job? We can't help them be better teachers? (That's what I do, by the way.)

34. None of us supports the idea of bad teachers...
...but it is more than that. It is a very anti-teacher, anti-public school, anti-union position and policy that they promote. Anti-everything about education I stand for. :) We've already had eight years of that...we don't need four more. IMHO.

And congrats for what you do. I used to work with new teachers a lot...retired now.:patriot:

It's so completely rewarding when you can watch them really come into their own and bloom into confident, awesome teachers. A big salute to you too. And about being retired: BRAGGER! LOL.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7599422.stm

"We need to shake up failed school bureaucracies with competition, empower parents with choice, remove barriers to qualified instructors, attract and reward good teachers, and help bad teachers find another line of work."

41. What are these barriers to qualified instructors?
It's like he's talking in code. I'm not aware of any barriers for qualified instructors. Does he mean hiring barriers? I don't know of any.

We already attract good teachers, it's retainment that's iffy, Mr. McDouche. And retainment has historically been hard in this profession, but it's even worse nowdays for a lot of reasons that don't fit into a short laundry list.

"Help" bad teachers find another line of work? What does that mean, we put their resumes out on monster.com?

He's so weird.

It sounded like an attack on public school teachers and teacher's unions as a whole, to me.
