There comes a time when the Big Money Guys decide to cut their losses
and pull the plug.

You can tell when it happens. Suddenly the media change their tune, and the Republicans can do nothing right.

Last time it happened was in '92. Bush1 was running against Clinton. Two things stand out for me in that election. First, they started showing Bush as hopelessly out of touch. He didn't know how much milk costs, and he was amazed when he saw a price scanner in a checkout lane. The other thing was the infamous Japanese State Dinner, where he threw up in the lap of the Japanese dignitary next to him. The media had a clip of that incident, and they couldn't let it go.

Had Bush been in favor--or had he been Reagan--the out-of-touch stories would never have been aired, and the most that would have happened in the second case would have maybe been an announcement that the President had been taken ill while on his Japan trip. No film, just a quickly forgotten, minimized little mention.

I don't watch much TV, but it sounds like they're really panning both Palin and McCain. There was the Peggy Noonan/Whatsisname thing the other day (Wow, I wonder who sprung that tape on the world), and now, from my scan of DU, I gather that McNutso's speech is getting lousy reviews, even on Fox.

That means to me that maybe the Big Money Guys are doing it again. They've decided that they'd be better off without the Republican albatross.

1. I really hope you are right. From the sounds of things,
it's looking like McCain's campaign is flat busted. lol

3. It was just genuinely a very LOUSY speech.
But what else did the punditocracy expect? I know we all expected it.

5. The reporting isn't necessarily reality-connected.
Think of 2000, when Gore trounced Shrub in every debate in terms of knowledge, delivery, logic--but the press declared Bush the winner because Al sighed or something.
