Democrats' Mantra should be: WHERE'S OSAMA????
All week every speaker at the GOP convention will try to conjure up the image of Bush in his "finest moment" hugging a fireman atop the rubble at Ground Zero, boasting how "the people that did this will hear us soon"...

WE (Democrats) need to undermine that image by tyeing it to one of a HOLLOW, UNFULFILLED promise, an EMPTY THREAT that was forsaken for the FOLLY of Iraq, which was VENGEANCE DENIED for the American people and 9/11 families. What happened to Bush's "smoking them out of their caves" and getting Osama "dead or alive"? Where is the Chief Executive Evildoer, anyway? He must be planning the next 9/11. So, has this administration made us safer? (rhetorical question) At least we're safe from reading the next chapter of Saddam Hussein's romance novel.

I think the Democratic Rapid Response talking heads need to keep asking "Where's Osama?", to tarnish and diminish Bush's "glorious moment" and remind people that instead of pulling out all stops to get Osama "dead or alive" he got us into the horrid, stupid, bloody Iraq mess and did not catch the main perpetrator of our National Tragedy. Democrats need to remind people that on Bush's watch, Osama remains a free man, out there still. Plotting and planning.

How could Bush answer that simple question: "Where's Osama?". I'd like to see our side hammering him with that- NOW, during the convention.

1. can't put too many eggs (or any eggs) in that basket
or into any basket that can be destroyed in one fell swoop, by finding Osama.

4. The problem with that is Osama might be in a refrigerator or jail cell
somewhere waiting for October to be unveiled. So if the Dems harp on this too much then when Bush shows "Look, I got him and how lucky for me, right before November!" then it would be even worse than otherwise.

5. Posts like this very well convince me he is
Very much so. Fortunately, Kerry is FAR too smart to set himself up for such an obvious rug pull.

6. The real problem with Osama is that he's the face for terrorism.
He's someone for all the new terrorists to look up to. Once he's gone, they'll find a new face - their enemies and ideologies will still be there.

Getting him may be important for America, but he's inconsequential in the bigger scheme of things.

It's a dangerous tactic to dwell on Osama. Bush could still capture him before the election, or maybe he already has. Neither is likely, but just think how bad that would be if it did happen. No, Kerry is smart to make this about the War on Terror, which Bush is clearly losing. His admission that he can't win this war should be shouted from the rooftops. Shrub made another massive mistake.

Edit: I hope we do bag Osama, but you know that Bush will try to shamelessly milk it for political gain, same as he has for 9/11. Kerry needs to point out how Iraq has made us less safe and Afghanistan is still uncowed - that bombing recently shows that the Taliban and Al Qaeda have regrouped while Bush charged off to Iraq.

8. No, because what if Osama turns up?
It's too risky to focus on Osama. Besides, we now have Bush's admission that he thinks he cannot win the War on Terra.

9. I suppose you folks are right...
... Bush's indecency makes me irrational. I think I need to take some Valium to get through the next 4 days.

Anyway, on another note, I am so excited- James Carville answered my email! He didn't address the substance (Bush wearing the unearned medal) but it's nice to know he read it and responded. Bald men rock!

Except Cheney.
