09/04/2008 Order Denying Motion Case Motion #3: Motion to Make Case File Confidential 0.00 0.00
09/03/2008 Motion to Make Case File Confidential Attorney: Pro per (0100001) Scott Alan Richter (Petitioner); Case Motion #3

Richter filed an emergency motion to make his divorce case file confidential on 9/3 and the judge denied it on 9/4. Apparently Mr. Richter is concerned about having his court records reviewed...or they have already been reviewed so he has tried to vain to have them sealed.

McCain In Wisconsin For Campaign Stop
MILWAUKEE - The Republican team of John McCain and Sarah Palin arrived in Milwaukee early Friday to get ready for their first post-convention campaign stop.

They have a late morning "meet and greet" scheduled in Cedarburg.

McCain and his wife Cindy, were first to step off their campaign jet at Mitchell International Airport. Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin followed the McCain's down the portable stairway just after midnight.

They all got into SUV's and were taken to a local hotel.

Do not apologize and do not let the fucking nanny brigade on this board get to you. It amazes me how so many on this board want to tell grown fucking people how to take this fight to the repigs. After that display from Sarah Palin a few nights ago, all of the stolen elections and the dirty shit they have done thus far to win I say good on you. You do not have to explain what you have done for Obama. Half the folks that are crying foul probably have not done jack shit themselves so just do what you feel you need to do. Show Palin a little of that activism the repigs like to make fun of. Oh good work by the way.

The NE is salivating at this story, has lawyered themselves up even more than usual and wants the circulation bonanza that will result if they can nail it down. They are the best water carriers Dems have right now, and we needn't say thing no. 1.

When/If they break the story, Sarahbou will be as marketable as Conquistador Instant Leprosy (a nod to hard core Python fans).

"Sarahbou will be as marketable as Conquistador Instant Leprosy?"

I PRAY The NE can PROVE their accusations. I too think it should be the end of any credibility she may have with her supporters. But, we're talking about her supporters. They are so f*cking hypocritical many would find ways to justify her dalliances.

Until then

There was a link to an article - I think written by Palin's opponent in the 2006 election -- to the effect that a government employee and close aide to Palin was fired after her started a relationshiop with the soon-to-be-ex of one of Todd Palin's friends.

PALIN: MORE TROOPERGATE DRIP, DRIP
Toward the bottom of the page there's a comment:

"You should google the firing of John Bitney by Sarah Palin. She fired him for having an affair with Debbie Richter - the wife of one of Todd Palin's business associates. There seems to be a pattern of pushing firings to even personal vendetas. I believe that is called "abuse of power".

I really don't feel like losing this election, when the people decide to love her because the media is beating her up.

I'm gonna have to start hiding these threads....about personal scandal...and I'm gonna write Skinner a letter, that he restricts this stuff to the lounge or something.

It can't be an election about this phony Gimmick. Too many voters will end up wanting to protect and not even know where she stands....because of all of the distracting noise.

I know several confused middle of the road women who have tended to get sympathetic re: Palin. The more I've learned about Palin, such as her shooting animals from Helicopters, the more I despise her. But some people feel sorry she's 'getting attacked.'

If topics get hidden, we who are logged in can still read them, right?

They won't find it quite so easy to feel sorry for Poor Little Sarah.

There are people who have much more compassion for animals than for fellow human beings. Plus, shooting animals from above makes the concept of "hunting" a total joke.

they're very good at it when there is actually something to be dug up! If the Enquirer finds something and runs a story, you can bet the MSM will, at least, check it out and if it is verifiable, they'll run with it too just like they did with the Edwards story. Sex sells, and the MSM loves to break "sexy" stories.

Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 01:12 AM by aint_no_life_nowhere
to a misdemeanor in 1993. I wonder what that was all about. A no contest plea is virtually equivalent to a guilty plea.

http://orca.courts.state.ak.us/names/search_results.asp?txtLastName=Palin&txtFirstName=&selLocation=ANY&txtYear=&txtRecordsPerPage=30&Submit=Search

ON EDIT: It occurs to me that this must be the fishing violation that Palin committed. It looks like she was charged with two separate misdemeanors on the same day; one was dismissed and she pleaded no contest on the other. This doesn't look like a biggie.

33. it was a fishing violation
she used an illegal net to salmon fish - not a big deal in the grand scheme of things (like a speeding ticket) - sportsmen face that all the time, baiting fields, headlighting - those who fish for a living don't like the laws protecting species that impede their catch.

58. Except that "sportsmen" do not normally fish for gamefish with nets. Whether or not it is "no big
deal" is a matter of opinion. It is not something that happens simply because you weren't "paying attention" so I think the speeding analogy is pretty off base. In the few cases where nets are used the rules are usually quite clear - for example "dip nets" may be allowed but not seines. It is hard to confuse a dip net with a seine accidentially. I say this not knowing the details of the case but most true sportsmen do not take lightly the abuse of regulations that in many cases sportsmen agree with, because if someone is using an illegal net, it usually means they have an unfair advantage.

If I were that one of the parties on that case I'd probably try the same thing -- whether it has anything to do with Palin or not, it's clear that the media is going to be digging into it and who wants that, regardless of what's in there?

But the motion was denied so moot anyway.

is between Bitney and Richter. It is an affair. It is threatening Palin's career. But, she was not the one having an affair. Is this correct? So, this story is just like the others. It is about a Cheneyesqe abuse of power. Admittedly, a lot more fun if she had been having an affair, but it does not seem so.

72. This is my impression as well..
I admit, it'd be a lot more fun (and probably more damaging with her base) if she was the one having the affair, but I don't think that's the case. Obviously the NE wants us to think that she had an affair, but honestly, I think most folks will find it to be anti-climactic when the reality of the situation comes out.

Just my 2 cents.

74. I've been googling all over the place about Sarah Palin.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 01:27 PM by Janice325
It appears the affair they are referring to is Sarah Palin and Scott Richter, Todd's business partner. Here's a link from Huffington Post even though they don't mention Richter by name.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/03/mccain-camp-battles-natio_n_123696.html

This whole thing sounds so cheap and tawdry, worse than any soap opera, IMO. This is soooo cheesy. From the following link,http://www.andrewhalcro.com/shadow_governor , we find that Bitney (mentioned upthread),had been a friend of Sarah Palin's but was dating Ms. Richter, soon to be ex-wife of Todd Palin's business partner, Scott Richter. Bitney gets fired. I read somewhere else (sorry can't remember where-that Bitney and D.Richter eventually get married).

Please don't flame, I'm not intending to shit stir. I think that just about anything, with the exception of the children, is fair game. I have no idea at this point what is true or not regarding Ms. Palin. The stuff just keeps coming out about her. Trying to connect the dots is mind boggling, and Ms. Palin is truly mind boggling.:argh: :wtf: :puke:

To summarize what might have happened: Bitney and Ms. Richter have an affair. Scott Richter, hubby of Ms. Richter, has an affair with Sarah Palin.(I stress might because I don't know if it's true or not).Oy, my head hurts.

75. Hey no flames from me, friend.
I am a no-flame zone... it's against my religion;)

And as far as your thoughts on the subject- you've done a whole lot more homework than me, so you are more likely to be correct, I suppose! Actually I do hope you are right, as it would be more damaging with her base than an abuse of power allegation, IMO.

62. I gotta go out for the day so not sure if someone posted this already...
From comments from http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/palin_as_reformer_not_quite.php, scan down the page for the comment. Someone would have to check out the story and dig a bit deeper.

The Palins also have a number of real estate holdings in Big Lake, AK co-owned by Debbie and Scott Richter. The properties are organied as “Richter Investments LLC.” The Richters also own a portion of the Palins residence in Wasila… (Assuming the Palins live rent free right now in the Governors’ Mansion in Juneau).

Interestingly, Debbie Richter was Palin’s campaign treasurer. Richter was awarded a job as the Director of the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend Division for her service. For those who don’t know, the State of Alaska gives its citizens “free money” checks every year out of this fund. This “free money” comes from oil royalties collected and investments. The Fund is currently worth $35 billion.

Would you choose the Governor’s campaign treasurer - and property co-owner - to honestly hand out oil royalties? Under her leadership in 2006, all Permanent Fund claims from residents (you have to make a claim for your check) were lost in a computer data entry failure…

Palin's Lobbyist Has Abramoff Ties
By Kate Klonick and Zachary Roth - September 2, 2008, 1:01PM

It looks like Sarah Palin's claim to represent a cleaner brand of politics could be about to take a bruising.

The Washington Post reports today that, while Mayor of Wasilla, Palin oversaw the hiring of a lobbyist, Steven Silver -- a former chief of staff to now-indicted GOP senator Ted Stevens -- to help win federal earmarks for the city.

But Silver appears to have additional ties that could further undercut Palin's image as a squeaky-clean reformer. According to Senate lobbying disclosure reports examined by TPMmuckraker, from 2002 to 2004 Silver listed as a client Jack Abramoff's lobbying firm, Greenberg Traurig. On Greenberg's behalf, Silver lobbied the federal government on "issues relating to Indian/Native American policy," "exploration for oil and gas" and "legislation relating to gaming issues" -- the very issues that Abramoff headed up for Greenberg at the time. In other words, Silver appears to have been a part of "Team Abramoff."

Indeed, one specific bill that Silver lobbied on for Greenberg, according to the forms, was S.627, also known as the Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act. A former Greenberg lobbyist confirmed to TPMmuckraker that Silver would have been working to oppose the bill. And it was an earlier version of this very bill that Abramoff famously worked to spike, with the support of Christian conservative leaders Lou Sheldon and Ralph Reed.

Rest of stories @ the links and apologies if any of this has been previously posted.

They care only about selling more newspapers.

Keep your eyes on the prize people.

He used to be a big BushCo supporter in 2000 but changed his mind voted Kerry in 2004 and now is an Obama supporter.

Haven't read his Palin blogs yet but heading over there now.

71. Story makes no sense if the motion was denied
Anyone can check out the filed papers because they are all part of the public record. The only stuff that would not be on file are transcripts of testimony in depositions or court proceedings, but they are also public and can be obtained simply by paying the stenographer for a transcript.

So if there were anything there it would already by known.
