Chris Matthews says McCain's speech was an indictment of George W. Bush.
I wonder if the Bushies will turn against him. This could be fun!

Also, we should look back at how he embraced Bush in order to win the nomination.

I actually feel sorry for Bush at how badly he is being treated. When McCain needed him, he clung close but as soon as McCain is in charge he kicks Bush to the curb.

1. That's just so Chris can help McCain with the moderate voters
by separating him from Bush.

We don't want that.

We want them to be twins.

Got it?

7. I wonder if all the "hug" ads they hung around the convention center
were meant to get McCain to trash Bush. One thing that Repubs can't stand is disloyalty. After all, Reagan was the one who clung to his 11th commandment.

2. McCain jumps from the straight talk express to the change wagon
He's just peddling change like it's going out of style.

"Change? Got change? Chaaaaange... Arrrrrh!"

4. to the change talk express
but is there any doubt if McCain got elected it would be more of the same: hack political appointments (look at the VP), hard right judges, aggressive shoot from the hip foreign policy, regressive taxation, little or no emphasis on energy independence, healthcare, etc. etc. etc.

I can spot it a mile away..Matthews must have marching orders.

5. Hardly...
Truth is...if they would have actually indicted these criminals when they had the chance, they would have been in a far better position at this stage of the game to appear credible.

6. An indictment of Bush would have mentioned Bush
McCain's speech was an ambiguous pander, trying to give a line that pundits could plausibly claim was an indictment of Bush and that he himself could - behind closed Republican doors - claim was not an indictment of Bush.

11. That's all it takes to indict? How about McCain's voting record?
Anyone can say a few words of criticism, promising change. How can one speech alone constitute an indictment? What matters is behavior and McCain's behavior on the Senate floor has not been an indictment of Bush. It's been an affirmation.

12. Pah, he can't get away from Bush after voting with him 90% of the time.

I think it shows how truly cynical he is. He'll use anybody and anything to get elected President. But I do find his attempt amusing.
