"Well, Obama is good. He's very polished. He's a very smart man. He's very qualified. But not for President. We need someone different than that right now. Maybe later somebody like Obama can be President but right now we need somebody - different".

SO. If Obama is very smart and polished. And qualified - what exactly did she mean "we need someone DIFFERENT than that..".

I suspect she meant "we need someone WHITE."

She could not and would not say that of course. You know I've heard this time and time again and just ONCE I'd like to see these people PRESSED to say WHY they keep saying we need someone "different" right now. "Different" - how, exactly? They'll say Obama is very qualified, very well-spoken, polished, smart, etc. etc. - but well - we need someone "different" than him.

REALLY?

What they mean is, they want someone WHITE. The abject and thinly disguised racism in this country really pisses me off.

2. Sound like a coach telling the fat kid he could be team mascot
And yeah, I think that's what "different" means.

Well, thankfully we have someone "different" than her (read that: smarter) to vote for Obama.

3. I think we need to prepare for this to get uglier
within the next few months. These folks are scared they are going to lose power. A congressman actually called both Michelle and Barack "Uppity" today.

5. How many more attempts on Obama's life?
That some Rove appointee will do NOTHING prosecute those who attempted it?

4. I'm not sure if this is actually racism, but one thing I AM sure of is that
whether it is or isn't, it's about to get a whole lot fucking worse.

If the GOP were running even an even remotely credible candidate, I'd be worried - but they're running McStain and Miss Congeniality, so for now I'm not.

For now.

The media is not on our side, but I'm confident that McStain will fuck himself the same way he wants to fuck all of us. He pretty much started the ball rolling with his dumbass VP pick.

The only thing that really, REALLY worries me - I somehow think bin Laden will be captured or killed about a week before the election, or at least reported as such (in which case the media will carry the story as such until "all the votes are counted").

ones. NOTHING would surprise me. Disgust me - likely but surprised? No. I'd not be surprised if they pulled binLaden out of their little hat somewhere. Or if they pulled some other shit - a staged 'terror' attack or more fearmongering - which is what that assinine 9-11 video today was about.

Desperation - theirs.

7. I'm actually reduced to wondering if
they don't already have bin Laden and are ready to trot him out just in time. They're playing the 9/11 card in an awfully overbearing way here.

Yes, I know it sounds a bit like the tin foil hat is being donned, but seriously - who other than a Bushite would put it past them?

9. I have been thinking the same thing,
wondering if they have Bin Laden. Nothing will be held back from their playbook of dirty tricks, and based on the ugly attacks and fear-instilling devices they have used the past few nights, I have no doubt that they will go down swinging as they sink into the quick sand.

10. Welcome to DU, friend.
Glad to have you here. We need all the support we can get. Besides, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one thinking this is possible.

Welcome!
