Is the National Enquirer article now off the table?
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/03/politics/fromtheroad/entry4413030.shtml

“John McCain’s campaign threatened legal action against the National Enquirer today for running a story about McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, allegedly having an affair with her husband’s business partner.”

Threatened? The other allegations?

Smoke, is there fire?

1. Yep.
It ain't our business.

It is McCain's business.

We've got other things to talk about.

Maybe you can take it to the lounge though....

3. I like you a lot Frenchie, but these are valid points
We can hammer them both, and I intend to do so.. She's proof that he makes bad choices, esp one so important..

Just today Richter, her ex-boyfriend tried to get a ruling on locking up his divorce, because there's a real good chance that they show Palin and him having an Affair.. There's a Reason she's hiding, and she will be exposed, the chink in the armor that could take down the whole shebang..

You don't want to go there, fine, but cut the "should be in the lounge" stuff please?

Watch for my "Brady Bunch" flash video on these animals, it will be hard hitting.. Obamas a big boy and does things his way..

I've gone for the throat for seven years now and it works well..

BTW, the NE told the McCain people to get Stuffed, so they DO have Something :)

8. Working on it now :)
Hopefully done by tomorrow, I like to make people laugh, then recoil in horror at the facts :)

I like to think that NOT addressing her, nor the Media, while she's hiding because she's so corrupt is EXACTLY their plan.. I made a film about Rove and he's a one trick pony, when they scream, the media is being Mean, that is when you turn the knife, they are running out the clock while she Hides!

Plus my wife has benn investigating this whole Palin affair, court papers and all, and when she says something is There, it is THERE..

When this comes out we need to hammer Palin HARD, not do what Rove wants and let her Sneak into office, not This Time !

10. Sorry, dunno..
I'm wondering if they got 'thraxed years ago and have decided to bring the Repigs down using Palin.. Do you know if they got the bad stuff sent to them after 911?

Or was that American Media in Boca Raton? Subsidiary?

14. Actually...
a little known fact: one of the anthrax letters was addressed to the National Enquirer's office in Florida. But the office had shut down some months before and all their mail was being forwarded to the Sun/ American Media office building nearby, since both the NE and the Sun are owned by American Media. So yeah, the anthrax was meant for the National Enquirer, unless one wants to argue that whomever mailed it knew it would be forwarded.

I wondered about that.. this may be a sort of Revenge, made all the more palatable by the death of that scientist they tried to pin everything on, that fell apart..

appreciate it..

9. This isn't lounge material. The GOP is hiding her from the press. Why?
She doesn't get a free pass to be a heartbeat away from being president.

5. Whatever allegations the NE had, the gossip and buzz certainly encouraged people to tune in to her
speech on Wednesday night. It sure would be suspicious if, suddenly, the RNC concludes and the whole thing is off the table.Know what I mean?

A lot of the early rumors about Troopergate and the Bridge to Nowhere were easily dug up with google searches because so many Alaskans and Wasillans had been keeping blogs about her alleged improprieties long before there was any VP talk.
I never saw anything about affairs on those blogs, however.

Let's wait and see, but unless the NE comes out with rock solid evidence, the rumors will be bad for us. They will fit in with the whole myth of the "liberal media" they have been harping on so much and they will take attention away from the Obama/ Biden message. They will also take attention away from the incompetency of McCain and Palin, something that should be focused on everyday.

12. With all due Respect..
When do they NOT say the liberal media bullshit?

That's right, they Always say that.. So is that any reason to stop?

Nope :)

It really doesn't make any difference what they say if we have Truth, I believe this time they've gone too far floating this joke of a VP candidate and they know it.. It's why she's Hiding. HIDING!

If a Repig tells me to look Up, the first thing I check is my shoes.. And then my wallet :)

13. If there's a scandal involving this woman and airing it will keep
her from winning the election, we put it "off the table" at our peril. Democrats always lose because we tiptoe around afraid to be rude or step on toes. As long as it's TRUE, it's fair game.

15. The National Enquirer
The same rag sheet that broke the news about Obama's gay lover, his affairs and on how Big Dawg was outraged over the fact that Hillary was getting more p*ssy then he was (Hard to miss the headlines while waiting in line at the store check out).

The NE is a favorite source of news for low info voters everywhere.

Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 06:11 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
It was the august New York Times that couldn't confirm the McCane-Lobbysist affair story...

I don't think The Enquirer touched the Sinclair story...

Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 08:13 AM by npincus
put more meat on the bones of the MOST compelling story line, the Palin affair. There is only one sentence, the same one you've already read elsewhere, about Palin having an affair w/one of her husband's business associates.

OK, the Enquirer needs to put up or shut up. WHO is the guy, and they need to get someone credible to go on the record with it. Of course, w/Palin the "Alaska It Girl", it may be intimidating for anyone to speak out. On the other hand, per the article, she has a lot of enemies... I'll bet she's stepped on a lot of people to get where she is.

They need to followup on the affair, or just forget it. I hope she gets the Edwards treatment, especially after the way she's flaunted her family and maternal achievements.
