I’ve been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we’d never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he's a she.

And what a she!

Because whatever one's politics were back then, conservative, liberal, independent, each poster doesn't knock President Reagan. His now published diaries and letters have revealed a man of more complexity and intelligence than many assumed. Maybe many of his policies were flawed but the man himself wasn't a simpleton. He and nancy had all kinds of friends, including gay friends, and were not prejudiced.

Michael Reagan is a simpleton. Palin is nothing like his father who supervised his speeches, writing most of them.
